To-Ricos Guo Shi Blanco Court Kway Chap Old Airport Road Food Centre Singapore JK1265

To-Ricos Guo Shi also known as Blanco Court Food Centre kway chap is perhaps the most famous name in Singapore traditional braised pork innards. It's now located at the sprawling Old Airport Road Food Centre and there is always a long queue at the stall.

(There are other unrelated kway chap stalls bearing the "Blanco Court" name which I shall visit and share soon :-D )

Today, we were among To-Ricos Guo Shi's earliest customers, standing in line at 11:30am.

Our selection of pork intestines and skin came heaped in one large plate.

The intestines were spongy tender but not springy. Very clean with no offensive odour at all. They were also cut in large bite size pieces which I like.

The intestines were mildly savoury sweet with very slight herbal notes. It tasted rather flat without layers of flavour. The porcine flavour was also missing. The various different types of intestines all tasted more or less the same. Just the texture is slightly different.

The preserved vegetable was mainly flat salty with a slight tanginess, and it was slightly soft.

I like the kway. They were thin and smooth, and picked up the broth very well. Very slurpy and tasty.

The broth was mildly savoury sweet and slightly herbal. The sprinkle of fried shallot in the bowl of kway was tasteless.

Total bill was SGD17.80 (for two persons).

Overall, I felt To-Ricos Guo Shi Blanco Court's kway chap was rather light and flat on flavours. Perhaps, the flavours' "friendliness" accounts for it's wide appeal and popularly. Many people are put off by the idea of eating pork innards and To-Ricos Guo Shi Blanco Court is one where there is "no smell" and "have a bit of taste". This is a very good place to introduce the uninitiated (e.g. tourists) to the quaint pleasures of pork innards/ offal without any "fear factor" :-D

I firmly believe that taste is subjective and so, warmly welcome differing viewpoints :-D But, I disapprove negative comments that are anonymous or hide behind fake identities. I feel that that is the same as speaking ill of others behind their backs. I look forward to all your comments :-D Thank you. (Date: 18 Dec 2015)
