I was invited to visit Indian Kitchen, a spanking new Indian restaurant opened at 1 Medini Hub in Johor Bahru. I love visiting Indian restaurants as I find the spices, colours, flavours, aromas, dishes, techniques and myriad regional variations deliciously fascinating. Indian Kitchen features both North and South Indian cuisine.

Indian Kitchen serves traditional classic Indian dishes in a bright modern minimalist yet comfortable setting.

We were graciously hosted by Manager John and Chef Sammy from Chennai, India.

John picked some of Indian Kitchen's best sellers for us to try.

Chicken 65 (RM15.90++).

Chicken 65 is an iconic Southern Indian dish from Chennai. Boneless chicken chunks marinated with spices and red chillies, were deep fried. Slight crisp outside with the spice infused inside still moist and tender. Indian Kitchen's version is just mildly spicy and so should be widely appealing.

Mutton Chukka, a spicy dish from Tamil Naidu in South India.

Tender lean mutton cubes cooked "dry curry" style with robust deep spice flavours and aromas. Perfect with simple plain white rice.

Crispy Lady's Fingers (RM11.99++).

Lady's Fingers sliced thin, coated with flour and spices then deep fried to a crisp outside while the vegetable's soft crunchy texture and moisture are retained.

I love any Indian style deep fried vegetables :-D

Long grain soft nutty Basmati rice enveloped in spices. The tender mutton cubes were deeply infused with rich spices. Eaten on a fresh banana leaf and with the customary crispy freshly fried papadum.

Tomato Rasam.

Love this appetising perky sourish spicy dish made with tomatoes and spices.

Refreshing Lemon and Mint, and Mango Lassi (RM11.99++).

Masala Tea (or spiced milk tea). I must have this every time I am at any Indian restaurant :-D

Mango Kulfi (RM10.99++).

Delicious traditional Indian cold dessert made by freezing a blend of fresh milk and mango puree.

  1. Went there with my family of 4 last Sat and tried the all you can eat buffet at RM18++. Food was ok, not that great but so so.. lime juice was free flow but lacked of real lime taste. But it's value for money if you ask me as the prices are quite low as compared to other restaurants. Might be going again this Sat to try out the fish heat curry and other ala cate dishes.. overall the food is ok. but the thought of crossing the causeway from Singapore and waiting in the long jams is a setback.
