Oasis the Italian Restaurant at Thistle Johor Bahru JK1456
We were invited for dinner at the poolside Italian themed Oasis restaurant at Thistle Hotel Johor Bahru.
Oasis restaurant has a well appointed bar, dining hall and alfresco poolside dining.
We were graciously hosted by sous Chef Fazrul in charge of Oasis.
Chef Fazrul started us off with his signature Trout Ceviche (RM56.80++).
This was my first time having ceviche in Johor Bahru :-D
Chef Fazrul laid slices of fresh ocean trout on a creamy yellow river of Hollandaise sauce dressed with cherry tomatoes, basil leaves, orange, arugula leaves and dashes of lemon juice and balsamic vinegar.
After whetting our appetites with the ceviche, Chef Fazrul's team piled us with, not one..., not two.... but three pizza planks baked in a wood fired brick oven.
Slices of fresh ocean trout and pepperoni on a bed of melted mozzarella cheese dressed with basil leaves and house blended BBQ sauce (RM36.50++).
Trout slices and turkey ham on mozzarella cheese dressed with mint, tomato and tabasco sauce (RM38.50++).
Trout slices with button and shiitake mushrooms dressed tomato cherries, arugula leaves and dashes of truffle oil (RM43.50++).
A beautifully presented mixed platter.
(Clockwise from top left) We had Nachos de tapas of minced chicken and minced beef with spicy tomato sauce (RM25++). Gambas de ajillo with sauteed fresh prawns simply dressed with garlic and chili flakes (RM25++). Albondigas or lamb meat balls (RM26++). I like these but have to let you know that the lamb gaminess is quite pronounced :-D Poached Salmon with Fettuccine pasta (RM28++).
Ocean Trout coated with hazelnut, mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and dressed with truffle oil (RM61.50++).
The sweet juicy flavour from big slab of fresh tender trout was balanced with the taste of savoury cheese, nutty hazelnut and dashes of truffle oil.
Oasis Lamb Loin Fillet (RM68++).
Asian spice glazed Australian lamb loin served with house blended brown sauce.
For dessert, we had a Mango Cheese Cake (RM20++) and Crème Brûlée (RM24++).
