Fukuryu Hokkaido Japanese Snow Crab Season Johor Bahru 福龙北海道雪蟹料理优惠 JK1523
Chef Cash Fong, owner of Fukuryu 福龙 invited Johor Kaki to taste their Snow Crab season dishes. There are four different dishes using snow crabs from Hokkaido, Japan.
Grilled Hokkaido snow crab motoyaki style 日式烤雪蟹. Two crabs (without legs) for RM9:80.
It's slivers of snow crab meat in a ball, blanketed with cheese and mayonnaise sauce and then baked causing the molten sauce to cling wrap the soft ball of crab meat with layered savoury tangy flavours. But, the cheese and mayonnaise sauce was mild enough to allow the snow crab's delicate sweetness to show through.
I find this delicious dish outstanding value for money and would try it again.
Snow crab with pari pari sauce 香辣酱雪螃蟹 RM48.00.
This is a whole boiled snow crab (two halves) with body and legs. The meat is sweet in a gentle way. The mild pari pari sauce is similar to thick Singapore style chili crab sauce but less eggy and less sourish or spicy. Fukuryu's pari pari sauce is mainly savoury sweet. I didn't use the pari pari sauce much as I prefer to enjoy the crab meat neat to appreciate it's delicate flavours.
This whole crab is good only if you have the patience and enjoy peeling, cracking shells and digging for bits and slivers of soft crab meat.
Hokkaido snow crab ramen 北海道雪蟹拉面 RM29.90.
Half a snow crab in a medium bodied sweet savoury broth with generic noodles done soft al dente.
The crab meat is sweet but you need the patience to break the shell and dig out the meat yourself.
Personally, I find eating with chopsticks to pick up the noodles, spoon to scoop the broth, and hands to cut the shell with scissors while working with two cameras rather daunting and distracting.
Snow Crab nabeyaki 日式雪蟹火锅 RM19.80
A Japanese cast iron hot pot overflowing with shitake and enoki mushrooms, kamaboko slices (fish cake), ajitsuke tamago (lava egg), tofu cubes and a snow crab body in bubbling sweet savoury chicken broth.
Layers of sweetness and tenderness, I like this Snow Crab nabeyaki.
