High Park cherry blossom trees are in their full glory with their beautiful pink and white crowns.

The best way to get to High Park during the cherry blossom season is by subway. The cherry blossoms are just 10 minutes leisurely walk from High Park station.

Car parking is limited at High Park and it is very crowded during cherry blossom season.

Let's take a walk together around the cherry blossoms.

Cherry blossoms bloom only for about three days to a week every year. The whole city is on "cherry blossom watch" every Spring. Once the news is out that the sakura trees have bloomed, thousands flock to High Park to enjoy the annual spectacle.

There was a light to moderate drizzle this wet, chilly Spring morning but that didn't deter us nor anyone who wished to see the cherry blossoms.

The first 2,000 sakura trees at High Park were gifted to Torontonians 58 years ago (in 1959) by residents of Tokyo to celebrate their reconciliation after the Second World War.

The delicate, pastel pink and white cherry blossoms were dressed with clinging pearls of water droplets from the drizzle.

The blooms danced and swayed to a light breeze under the grey overcast, cloud laden sky.

But, our spirits remain high as the cherry blossoms mark the end of frigid Winter and Mother Earth waking up from hibernation. Symbols of renewal and new beginning, cherry blossoms are welcomed with joy.

Also at High Park is a little one lane zoo where there are llamas, wallabies, emus, peacocks, etc. There are also majestic bisons (unique to North America).
