Malaysia Boleh! Jurong Point, Singapore Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee 福建虾面
I was again at Malaysia Boleh! food court in Jurong Point, Singapore for their Penang style Hokkien Prawn Mee 福建虾面 or hae mee.
I missed Malaysia Boleh! Penang style Hokkien Prawn Mee, so I came back for it :D
I like the piping hot prawn broth made by boiling prawn heads, pork bones and spices for hours.
And, also the meaty tender pork ribs.
This stall is run by Ah Yeong who is from Kuala Lumpur.
My bowl of Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee with shelled shrimps, pork ribs, pork slices and egg.
I always order a mix of bee hoon and yellow noodles whenever I have curry, laksa or prawn mee. Bee hoon soaks up the broth and flavours well while I also like the comfort from the feel and taste of yellow noodles. The best of both worlds :D
I like the prawny flavoured broth of Malaysia Boleh's Penang style Hokkien Prawn Mee. The hearty broth has good body with a robust savoury prawny flavour and aroma.
The meaty pork ribs were tender and fell off the bone easily. Made from fresh pork, I like the subtle porky flavour and soft bite of the meaty pork ribs.
The chili paste was tangy, salty and spicy. In Penang, the locals often stir the chili paste into the prawn broth. I didn't really need this as I found the prawn broth very good in itself, without any additional flavourings.
The Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee Soup stall is located near the drinks stall, between the char kway teow stall and fried oyster omelette stall.
