Lunch today was at a humble no name stall in Atson kopitiam at Jalan Inang 1, a quiet back street off Jalan Skudai.
Stall holder Auntie Lian is like everybody's mum - she simply takes her home cooking to customers at her little stall.
Ah Lian's stall serves many familiar home style dishes but the most popular are her La La clam ๅฆๅฆ dishes. I call her the La La Queen ๐
We had a large plate of fried yellow noodles with La La clams. It's simply noodles and La La clams tossed in dark soy sauce.
There were lots of La La clams in the noodles. They were fresh and very well cleaned, without any trace of sand at all. They taste naturally sweet.
Simple pork trotter braised in dark soy sauce. Cooked to just the right doneness, the skin and fat have nice tender bouncy texture. The braising stock is just mildly savoury so we can taste the pork's natural sweet flavours.
Simple fried Ikan Kurau steak. Nice brown sear outside while inside the sweet fish meat is white, tender and still a little moist.
La La clam soup with pork and bitter gourd slices. Simple, clean tasting, light savoury sweet soup.
Our bill for all the food today came to RM45.
Another customer's order of fried La La clams; I shall try this next time.
