Today, I dropped in on a shopping centre food court in my quest to track down all the traditional Cantonese roast duck places in downtown Toronto. I love fatty Canadian roast ducks ๐Ÿ˜„

It's at a food court stall in the basement of College Park known simply as "duck". Food courts in Canada are physically set up in a very similar way to those in Singapore. But, the stalls here are privately owned - not manned by employees of the food court.

College Park is at the intersection of Yonge and College Streets. College Park is a shopping centre, residential and office block built by Eaton Department Store in 1930.

Golden brown roast ducks glisten in "duck's" glass window. The "duck" also serves siew yok (roast pork belly), char siew (roast pork) and soya sauce chicken just like the Cantonese roast shops in Old Chinatown.

The roast duck with rice noodles and soup is served in a disposable plastic bowl and utensils, environment unfriendly fast food style. Well..... this is a food court..... ๐Ÿ˜‚ Price - around CDN8 tax included.

The roast duck is as good as it gets - just like those in Old Chinatown in Spadina. The duck is juicy and fat with natural sweetness and ducky taste. The aromatic 5-spice marination is the similar to those in Old Chinatown - the intensity is mild. The skin is soft but have nice gamey duck flavour.

The thick rice noodles were limp and tasteless in a MSG flavoured soup which was loaded with grease and salt. I ate up the noodles but couldn't finish the oily soup.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Come to "duck" stall in College Park food court only for the good roast duck either as take away or order it with plain white rice. The rice noodles and soup were bad.

  2. They've updated their soup stock, and it's much better now. I agree it used to be like dishwater, but now it's flavourful. I get the duck and dumplings soup and love it.
