We were on a week of food trails in Taipei with local buddies. In between scrumptious big meals, we chilled out in stylish cafes across the clean and beautiful city. I like Taipei cafes because they have a way of being geeky while staying classy.
I like to recommend two:
Near Taipei 101 ๐ Wooloomooloo Cafe
At Yong Kang area ๐ Yaboo Cafe ้ดๅ ๅๅก.
The first was Wooloomooloo Cafe, a short 10 minute walk from Taipei 101.
At the street level. In Taipei, many cafes sport large tables which sit friends and strangers together. I like it as strangers are just friends we have not met.
Taiwanese are very polite, friendly folks, so table sharing is a pleasant experience here - they won't send you death stares, body language to chase you away, speak loudly, play handphone games with speaker on, make video calls and other such uncouth behaviour.
A flight of stairs lead to the upper level.
There's a nice outdoor balcony overlooking the traffic below. Today, the air is fresh and clean right at the heart of Taipei city. During my whole stay, I didn't hear any car sounding their horn.
I like the coffee at Wooloomooloo Cafe - good nice round body, robust flavour and aromatic. Owner Jimmy Yang ๆฅๅ้ lived in Melbourne for over 20 years and recreated Aussie cafe culture in Wooloomooloo Cafe with the feel, taste and aromas. Wooloomooloo Cafe source their roasts from - you guessed it, Wooloomooloo, Australia.
Excellent house made cakes.

Yaboo Cafe ้ดๅ ๅๅก is in the Yong Kang tourist belt but tucked nicely away in a quiet nook from the busiest area.
Nice bar seats around the open kitchen.
Table sharing is the norm in Taipei cafes. Folks are very friendly and considerate as Taiwanese generally are.
There is a garden patio area outside (left of the picture) for those who prefer the outdoors e.g. smokers.
Nice robust flavours with good round body. I had mine with Bailey's which brought back many memories.
Appreciating coffee like tea with a ๅ ฌ้ๆฏ or sharing cup as per Chinese traditional tea custom.
This well loved
