Day 2 of "Circuit Breaker", we ordered home delivery from the famous Fook Kin η¦ε² of Killiney Road, Singapore. This order is for 3 persons.
Our total bill came to $65.10 plus flat delivery fee of $5 which we paid to the driver directly. (Minimum order for home delivery is $50).
Our food came neatly bundled. The driver came with mask on at the appointed time, handover was over in 2 seconds flat. So easy.
Everything inside was carefully packed.
They were generous with the chili, mustard and various sauces.

Of course, must have Fook Kin's signature char siew and sio bak (siew yok or roast pork belly). This medium size portion for $17.
All the char siew pieces were tender and juicy, and there were several pieces of these beautiful just-nice-fatty ones which I like best. Aeroplane meat ι£ζΊθ or armpit meat δΈθ§ε€©, I don't really know.
We ate our food straight from the boxes without warming. The tender juicy char siew tasted mildly sweet savoury. It was nice though my own preferred taste profile is for more savoury less sweet and more intense flavours.
The sio bak was firmer than the char siew but still tender and juicy. Flavour was mostly mildly savoury which I like (I don't like overly salty sio bak). The golden brown skin was still crackly crisp (even though it was packed in a box).
Roast duck boneless lower quarter $16.
Nice tender and moist roast duck with lovely layers of savoury flavour, a lot coming from the slightly crisp golden brown skin. Nice though my preference would be for a bit more fat and more intense flavour.
Crispy squid $12.80.
Crispy chewy and tacky outside from the caramelised sugary sauce. Flavour was sweet savoury. We enjoyed these though the fried squid were caked together due to caramelised sugar.
Stir fried French beans $9.80.
Love the sweet and juicy crunchy French beans. The savoury hae bee (dried shrimp) provided a lot of savoury balance to the dish.
We saved some of the unfinished hae bee to fry our own crunchy juicy fresh kang kong together with a bit of ground chili for dinner π Shiok π
Fragrant rice $1.50 a serving.
π A simple comforting meal of familiar flavours so satisfying and reassuring in these times. The portions were more than enough.
We are so blessed. A good meal is just a phone call away and it will be delivered to our doorstep.

Date: 8 Apr 2020 (second day of "circuit breaker")
Dear Tony,
ReplyDeleteGreetings from the Klang, Home of the Bak Kut Teh.
We are now into Day22 of the MCO, aka Circuit Breaker in S'pore, with the risk of further lockdown extending beyond 16April looming.
Please keep your delicious article coming, as your blog is one of the very few distractions many of us have during this enforced "retirement life".

Hi Crawler, please stay safe and healthy. Tomorrow I will do a compilation of home delivery food in Johor. Sorry that I won't be in Klang for a couple of months. Am in Singapore. Hope to be able to visit Malaysia very soon. Keep safe buddy.
DeleteHi Tony,
DeleteToday is Day23 of the MCO. Let's hope there are no further extension.
Most of us have somewhat developed a routine within the confinement of home. But we still need to keep the Cabin Fever in check. Any your writing is an escape.
Enjoyed your Hue article tremendously, allowing me to reminiscent my Saigon/My Tho days in the early 2010’s.
Thanks again
