Don't Write Us Off Concert • Night to Remember Our Music & People • Bloom Fund Raiser 31 Jul & 1 Aug 2025

The Don't Write Us Off Concert at Blu Jaz at Clarke Quay Central on 31 Jul 2025 was a memorable evening of music. The tunes were nostalgic but their energy felt contemporary and I am sure would still be enjoyed long into the future.

Simon Ong, Head Seniors & Intergenerational Engagement of TRCL launched the memorable evening.

TRCL (The Rice Company Ltd) is a charity which seeks to harness the arts to benefit under-served children and youths.

TRCL raises funds for The Budding Artists Fund and The Bloom Fund.

The Don't Write Us Off Concert raised funds for The Bloom Fund which fosters meaningful interactions between senior and younger generations.

Jive Talkin' opened the show!

It's yesterday once more. Let the good ol' times roll!

Bellingham, their tagline is "We play songs you forgot you love".

Cannot be more apt!

Bellingham lead singer Deborah Jean Lee.

Bellingham performs Olivia Newton-John's Let Me Be There. ONJ was many a schoolboy's goddess during my time 😅

Deborah with Clement Chow.

Clement Chow was the original singer of Count On Me Singapore in 1986.

Clement Chow Live at the 1986 Singapore National Day Parade
It is still one of the people's favourites and memorable Singaporean National Day songs. Count On Me Singapore was composed by Canadian musician Hugh Harrison and arranged by Jeremy Monteiro.

Clement Chow performed The Hollies' classic He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother at the Don't Write Us Off Concert.

Robert Fernando.

Robert Fernando performed James Ingram's Just Once.

Rozie Rahim.

Jive Talkin’ John Klass.

Shawn De Mello.

Shawn De Mello belted out his soulful rendition of Prince's Purple Rain.

Ah... Speedway, Singapore's top rock band from the 1980s. Patrick, Freddie, Clarence & Oliver.

Over the years, I've forgotten about Singapore bands from that time.

Lead singer Patrick Lee led the band in classics like Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall.

It was an emotional evening for me, for I have forgotten that I have forgotten the music of my life of the 1980s, partly because of travel, work and the rise of Cantopop in Singapore in the late 80s (based on my personal experience).

But, tonight the old flame is rekindled and the fire still burns.

Thank you for keeping the music alive (while we wandered away) all these years.

It's time to reconnect. Let the music and good times roll long into the future 🙏

*Pardon me as I couldn't identify some of the performers. Please help me, if you know 🙏
