Pudu Kun Kee Chicken & Fish Porridge 📍Jalan Seladang outside RHB Bank 坤记鸡鱼粥

Kun Kee is a popular street side porridge stall in Pudu.

Street side food stall, eat at the five foot way, it's the authentic hyperlocal street food experience I travel for.

Reception, food display and kitchen, everything was there.

They have raw fish, pork blood curd, liver, lean meat, various cuts of chicken, fried pork intestine, you char kueh (Chinese fried crullers), etc. Quite a comprehensive porridge menu actually.

The menu. I came back twice within a month so that I could try more items. Prices have been adjusted slightly upwards.

My first time, I had fish porridge with you char kueh.

Kun Kee is famous for their raw fish but I asked for it to be well blanched. The porridge was neither as thick nor pastey as Hong Kong style congee.

Nicely savoury sweet aromatic porridge. Soft fresh sweet fish slices. I liked it. Comforting like home made. I didn't use the soy sauce and pepper provided, didn't feel it was necessary.

Came back because I wanted to try Kun Kee's other claim to fame, their chicken and I threw in the fried intestines as well, as I prefer it over you char kway (as a side for porridge).

Yeah I like this slightly watery porridge with almost fully dissolved rice.

I didn't specify the cut I wanted and was given breast.

The breast was nice. Tender with a subtle squeaky bite, not mushy soft. Subtle chicken sweet flavour. Would prefer it with skin as there would be more chicken flavour there.

The splash of gently savoury sweet sauce added to the flavours.

Fried pork intestine is a must for me with porridge (if available).

Perfect together. The crisp chewy crunch of the fried intestine complemented by the watery porridge with soft almost dissolved grains.

Can give Kun Kee a try, if you love porridge. Experience disappearing authentic street food from a mobile food cart and eat along a five foot way.
