There was far more varieties of food than I could taste in one evening. Everyone of us was spoiled for choice.

Take a tour with me of Hotel Mutiara's Ramadan buffet. This is just a very small selection of the all the traditional Malay and international food served.

There was an outdoor cooking area with a kampung ambiance.

It was fun to watch the Chef having fun with his flying roti canai.

Look out for the murtabak rusa (venison) at this station.

There was a lot of other food, this was the fried fish in creamy gravy.

Rusa (venison) cooked till tender in aromatic curry spices and coconut milk. I love this.

The key man who orchestrated the whole show and put everything together was Chef Zuraimi.

This goreng pisang cheese or fried banana with chocolate and cheese topping is the rage now in Johor Bahru.

There were several types of handmade sambal to spice up our food.

Look out for sambal tempoyak made with chili and durian. This was the first time I tried this. It was sweet and spicy with subtle bitter notes along with pronounced durian flavour. May not be for everyone,  but do check it out to see if you like it.

We like this char kway teow. The fried rice noodles have nice texture and was flavourful with the savoury sauce well seared in.

Love everything on my plate, especially the sambal oxtail and venison murtabak.

I am not doing justice to the sumptuous and scrumptious spread of food at the Ramadan buffet here. You have to come here to see for yourself.

The traditional hand washing station was a nice homely touch.
