Ramadan Buffet in Johor Bahru, Hotel Mutiara
Johor Kaki was invited to try out the Ramadan buffet at Hotel Mutiara in Taman Century, Johor Bahru.
There was far more varieties of food than I could taste in one evening. Everyone of us was spoiled for choice.
Take a tour with me of Hotel Mutiara's Ramadan buffet. This is just a very small selection of the all the traditional Malay and international food served.
There was an outdoor cooking area with a kampung ambiance.
The grilled fresh seafood station at the outdoor cooking area.

It was fun to watch the Chef having fun with his flying roti canai.
Look out for the murtabak rusa (venison) at this station.
The station of traditional handmade Malay desserts.
The popular grilled lamb or kambing pangang station.
There was a lot of other food, this was the fried fish in creamy gravy.
Rusa (venison) cooked till tender in aromatic curry spices and coconut milk. I love this.
The key man who orchestrated the whole show and put everything together was Chef Zuraimi.
Some traditional appetisers.
The colourful drinks station.
Executive Chef Mohd Zaid showing me the fresh watermelon juice station.
This goreng pisang cheese or fried banana with chocolate and cheese topping is the rage now in Johor Bahru.
There were several types of handmade sambal to spice up our food.
Look out for sambal tempoyak made with chili and durian. This was the first time I tried this. It was sweet and spicy with subtle bitter notes along with pronounced durian flavour. May not be for everyone, but do check it out to see if you like it.
We like this char kway teow. The fried rice noodles have nice texture and was flavourful with the savoury sauce well seared in.
Love everything on my plate, especially the sambal oxtail and venison murtabak.
I am not doing justice to the sumptuous and scrumptious spread of food at the Ramadan buffet here. You have to come here to see for yourself.
The traditional hand washing station was a nice homely touch.
