Friday Pasar Malam Johor Bahru Puteri Wangsa JK1332
Visited the pasar malam at Taman Puteri Wangsa in Ulu Tiram, Johor this Friday evening :-D
The 100 plus pasar malam stalls are set up around Jalan Badik 16 and 19.
Jackfruit seller. RM12 per kilo.
Petai or "stinky beans". RM3 per bundle of 3 pods.
Many people get their fresh vegetables and fruits at the pasar malam.
I am not sure what this was. The seller calls it "abang petai" the big brother of stinky beans.
A popular stall selling various types of fried food.
Nasi lemak ready for take away.
The nasi campur (mixed dishes) stall. The stall holders are so friendly :-D
Lots of dishes at this stall. This was their curry fish head.
Another popular fried food stall. The freshly fried chicken :-D
"The Noodles" - a popular three piece band.
Of course, there is charcoal grilled satay.
Traditional putu piring.
Indian fried snacks like vada.
Fried noodles.
Steamed sweet corn.
The ever popular kacang putih man.
Fried bee hoon (rice vermicelli).
There are a few fried carrot cake stalls.
Roasts stall with roast ducks, pipa duck, char siew and siew yok.
Hakka "abacus" 算盤子 - yam and minced pork wrapped in rice flour cakes. A Hakka staple not commonly sold in Singapore.
Ikan bilis - an important ingredient in Malaysian cooking comes in many different grades.
There is even a stall selling off-the-shelf medication, just like a street side pharmacy :-D

The abang petai is called Jering/Jengkol i.e dogfruit. Then the nasi lemak is not actually nasi lemak. It's nasi ayam penyet.. Awesome review anyway..
