I was invited to taste the 6 course modern European set dinner menu by The Clan Restaurant at Pomo Mall at Selegie Road in Singapore. It was a scrumptious meal, made with premium ingredients, well executed, professionally served by attentive staff in a comfortable, well appointed restaurant. In my opinion, the price S$78++ is good value for what we are getting. (Available from 1 Jul 2016.)

The interior of Clan Restaurant is elegant without being overly opulent or pretentious, so we feel comfortable for cosy, intimate get togethers here.

Clan Restaurant serves set menus daily. For Lunch, 2 courses at S$29++ and 3 courses at S$38++. One guest dines free for every 3 paying guests (offer on until further notice. Call 6222 2084 to confirm ๐Ÿ˜‹ ) Guests can also order dishes a la carte. 

I was invited to taste the Dinner set menu, which comprises 6 courses at $78++ with Hot Entrees, Cold Entrees, Soups, Main Courses and Desserts selection.

All set meals start with an Amuse Bouche, comprising of Chef’s Palate of the Day.

For cold entree (cold appetiser), I had Oysters fin de Claire Trio - fresh oysters served au naturel with a zesty lemon wedge, salsa and the third one we downed it with sake in a single gulp. Yums.

For cold entree, Sam had Clan's Pasta topped with crayfish, trio caviar and truffle oil.

Jafri picked George's Bay Scallops with burnoise vegetables, avocado mousse and sesame.

For hot entree (hot appetiser), I had Foie Gras with citrusy fig puree, sourish raspberry and crumbly brioche.

The mildly savoury sweet foie gras was rich, tender and smooth like butter.

For hot entree, Sam had this XL Prawn with grilled milk corn and tamarind sauce.

For soup, I had my usual Lobster Bisque. Mildly savoury sweet with tender pieces of lobster meat in the broth. The soup was delicious though the crustacean savouriness was not too pronounced.

For main, I chose Clan's Wagyu Beef Loin with Himalayan Pink Salt and Au Jus.


The presentation of the Wahyu Beef Loin caught me by surprise - the delightful kind.

The slices of well marbled wagyu beef were set on a dried hoba leaf ๆœด่‘‰ and laid on a hot stone slab to cook.

I like to enjoy my wagyu beef done medium rare and neat so that I can taste the beef's natural flavours and sweetness au naturel.

But, if you prefer your beef with more flavours, Clan's wagyu beef is served with savoury beefy au jus and Himalayan pink salt.

I highly recommend Clan's Wagyu Beef Loin.

Sam offered me a piece of his main, Iberico Pork Pluma which is served with smoked artichoke, cubes of quince paste and charred scallion stalks.

The Iberico pork pluma was tender with mild sweet porcine flavours and a nice smokey taste. I think this would be appealing to pork lovers.

Jafri offered me a piece of his main, Dorper Lamb which is served with pistachio, yellow curry, fava beans and forest mushrooms.

The Dorper lamb done medium rare was tender and juicy with nice gentle gamey sweet and savoury flavours.

Sam also ordered the main, pan seared Halibut served with chorizo stew for us to taste. The clean, subtle tasting halibut is supposed to be eaten with the savoury sweet chorizo stew together for balance. But, I like my halibut just by itself to taste the ocean flavour and sweetness of the fish. It's just me lah.

For dessert, I chose the refreshing Summer Fizzy which is citrus peach compote, soursop granita and house made nectarine ice cream.

Jafri chose the Matcha Yuzu which is matcha lava with yuzu curd and zesty lemon sorbet.

Sam indulged in this visually spectacular Sakura which is fruit salsa and doris plum ice cream drizzled with hot chocolate sauce.

Over tea and cappuccino, we chatted with Head Chef John Ng who is the man behind the Summer Menu and the set menu which we enjoyed today. A youthful 27, Head Chef John already has over 10 years of culinary experience under his belt in Singapore hotels and restaurants. Like so many hailing from Peranakan families, self driven Head Chef John is literally born with culinary talent and passion in his blood. The scrumptious meal we had today proved it.

Clan Restaurant currently stocks some 50 wine labels mainly from France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. The wine selection sourced globally changes and evolves over time to give customers a wider choice. Clan Restaurant serves wine by the bottle and by the glass, which allows for wine pairing between courses.

Clan Restaurant is on Level 2 of Pomo Mall at Selegie Road which is conveniently located near several MRT stations and just a few paces from Singapore's School of the Arts.

๐Ÿ‘ I enjoyed Clan Restaurant's 6 Courses Dinner Set - at S$78++, I feel it is good value for the excellent food and attentive service in a cosy, contemporary classy setting.
