It's all about the Handmade Fish Balls - Ah Hua at Johor Bahru Sri Tebrau Food Centre 亚华手工鱼丸 JK1505
After stumbling upon Ah Hua in Stulang Laut and enjoyed their fish ball noodles back in 2012, Ah Hua moved and I lost track of the stall ever since. So, I was really glad that buddy MC Kee mentioned to me that Ah Hua is now located at Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre. I quickly made my way down to Ah Hua for that long lost feeling of tasting their famed hand made fish balls.
Ah Hua and wife have been running the hand made fish ball stall for over 30 years around the Stulang Laut 3-storey flats before moving to Stall 22 at Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre.
The big banner says 回味 or reminiscing, which is what Ah Hua fish ball is about - the taste of old times.
The pure 100% yellow tail or tofu fish 豆腐魚 fish balls.
We ordered a kway teow soup version. Besides fish balls, it's loaded with a ngoh hiang, tofu stuffed with fish paste, fried brinjal stuffed with fish paste and a crispy fried fish dumpling.
We also had a "dry" version with the kway teow tossed in a simple dark soy sauce, vegetable oil (with aromatic fried shallot) and sambal chili (as we asked for spicy). The fish balls were served in a separate bowl with soup.
Ah Hua is all about their hand made fish balls.
Ah Hua's fish balls are like small marbles. They are tender with a soft spring to the bite. The fish balls released a subtle fresh fish flavour and aroma when we chewed and gently broke it.
The clear broth made by boiling stock bone, anchovies and soy beans was savoury sweet and almost grease free.
👍 Ah Hua hand made fish ball noodle is a local favourite with JB folk for it's nostalgic old school taste. It's been updated with additional ingredients like ngoh hiang but to me, Ah Hua is still all about their pure fish balls.

Went there today. This stall is non-halal. They use pork bone for stock and pork in their wontons. Please correct your posting. Thanks.
