Feel at Home and Recharge at Grazia Cafe near Sutera Mall

Grazia-Cafe-Sutera-Mall

This morning, I am back at Grazia Cafe near Sutera Mall after three years. I had fond memories of Grazia Cafe as an intimate quiet calming space, good for cooling our heels during food trails or shopping trips.

Stepping inside, the details have changed a little over the three years but the ambiance is cosy and welcoming like before. Actually, it feels a little less cluttered and have better flow of Qi now (in Fengshui speak). (In English, it's more open and airy lah ๐Ÿ˜„ ).

I soon found out that Grazia Cafe is now run by a new team - (from left to right) Alice, Charlotte, Xui Yi and Glone. Alice and Charlotte run the front office while their respective niece and nephew run the kitchen.

Charlotte is a coffee enthusiast and long harboured aspirations of sharing her passion by running her own cafe. So, when the previous owner Kellie wanted to transfer Grazia Cafe as she was relocating out of Johor Bahru, Kellie took the plunge together with her best friend Alice.

Alice have over 10 years experience in restaurant management and was a deputy manager of a Swensons outlet in Singapore. Roping in their younger family members who were working in restaurant kitchens, together they took over Grazia Cafe from Kellie.

It's been two years already since taking the plunge and they have built up a loyal following.

Their vision for Grazia Cafe is like a home where they share a part of themselves, be it love of coffee, tea or love of books. Charlotte brought her own library from her home to share her favourite books with customers. Charlotte welcomes customers to bring their own books too to read in Grazia Cafe.

Sitting in Grazia Cafe, I can feel the sincerity of the owners. Alice and Charlotte going out of their way to make their customers feel at home.

I tasted some of Grazia Cafe's menu which consists of coffees, teas, milk, and Western style staples like pizzas and pastas. The Western style food here are tuned to local taste buds and preferences.

I started with Grazia Iced Espresso Latte (RM15).

I like Grazia Cafe's single origin double shot espresso cold brew. The Brazilian Arabica has a chocolaty flavour with an underlying savouriness balanced by fresh milk which gave the coffee a sweet layer and body.

Grazia Cafe serves 9 different flavours of milk such as chocolate, hazelnut, macadamia, caramel, matcha, rose honey etc. Prices ranges from RM11.50 to 13.50 a bottle.

Tea lovers have a choice of 10 artisan teas and 8 flower teas. I had a fragrant French Rose tea. It's supposed to have health and beauty benefits but I just enjoy the nice tea lah ๐Ÿ˜„ All teas priced at RM13 per cup.

Grazia Cafe has 11 types of pizzas (price RM18.90 to RM23.90). I had the "Hawaiian Chicken". The light crisp biscuit-like base is slathered with tomato sauce then topped with cheese, capsicum, olive, pineapple and chicken cubes. The flavours are mild.

Grazia Cafe has 9 types of spaghetti (Price RM20.90 to RM23.90). I had the carbonara spaghetti with bacon, shiitake mushroom, egg yolk and garlic with cream sauce. Flavours are gentle. I like it that the pasta is done al dente instead of soft (which local cafes tend to do).

I also tried the spaghetti aglio e olio with garlic and shiitake mushroom lightly sauteed in olive oil. A sprinkle of dried red chili flakes add a bit of spice to the spaghetti.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Grazia stands out from the usual cafes as guests are personally attended to by the earnest owners. I also like it that Grazia Cafe's space calms me like a cool oasis from the scorching heat and draining city buzz outside. Actually, Alice and Charlotte value quietness and request customers to co-operate to keep the space tranquil. It's a relaxing hide away to recharge ourselves (and not just our handphones ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ) - customers are left in peace whereas almost everywhere else in the city, cafes are (understandably) in a hurry to turn over tables.

Disclosure: Thank you Alice and Charlotte for your hospitality.
