Hi, fans and friends of Uncle Niven of Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice fame, your favourite chicken rice is now in Compass One mall at Sengkang MRT station.

Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice is located on level 2 of Compass One mall beside the Ajisen Ramen outlet. Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice is spacious, bright, clean and comfortable.

Uncle Niven still does things the way his dad taught him at the old Margaret Drive stall. The poached chicken are dunked in water, the Cantonese way.

We shared half a poached bird which costs $15+. Reasonable pricing 😊

Sin Kee Famous Chicken is cut into large chunks with bone and skin on - I like it this way as most of the natural juices stay in the meat.
True to old Sin Kee form, the chicken was cooked through but the meat was still smooth, tender and juicy. There was a bit of jelly (congealed visceral fat) under the skin and between the flesh.
The flavour was natural sweetness with subtle chicky taste complemented by gentle savouriness from light dressing sauce. The chicken also had a subtle natural chicky aroma.

The white breast meat was also tender, juicy and sweet.
Sin Kee still serves one of the best chicken in Singapore.

The aromatic rice was cooked with garlic, fried shallot, pandan leaves, chicken stock (from poaching the birds) and aromatic oil. I like the tender-soft-firm texture and savoury sweetness but it felt a tad greasy today.

Blanched kai lan greens dressed with oyster sauce.

I like it that the stem was shaved of its leathery skin, leaving only the tender crunchy juicy core. The vegetable was done just right, so it was tender, crunchy and juicy. They were also light handed with the savoury oyster sauce, so we can taste the kai lan's sweetness.

Sin Kee Famous' house made chili sauce has a quite sharp sting layered with sourish taste from vinegar, balanced with a slight saltiness.

I always enjoyed Sin Kee's Cantonese style ginger dip 薑融. It's roughly grated fresh ginger with chopped scallion held together with aromatic oil. Just mildly spicy in the ginger way and full of aroma with a bit of zest.

👉 Fans of Uncle Niven's Sin Kee famous chicken rice, now you know where to get your fix. The taste is exactly the same i.e. great. The Compass One location is air conditioned, comfortable and easily accessible via Sengkang MRT station.
