Liang Kee 888 Seafood Restaurant in Batam Indonesia 亮记海鲜

Liang Kee 888 Restaurant on Batam Island in Indonesia is a typical coffee shop type seafood zhi char place (like those in Singapore and Malaysia). We had dinner here and had many different fish, chicken, meat, wild boar and vegetable dishes. The most memorable dish was their seafood hor fun which I would be glad to come back for.

The kway teow (flat ribbon) noodles were generic but they were of good quality - soft tender and some were given a nice browned caramelised sear outside. That gave the kway teow noodles the toasty wok hei taste which was also infused into the savoury sweet seafood stock which enveloped the whole dish.

The slippery smooth, thickened stock had many layers of savoury sweetness from an unusually rich mix of seafood from prawns, squid, fish, pork, liver to stewed fried pork skin and sea cucumber. The savoury sweet layers piled up the flavours and complemented each other well.

👉 We had lots of dishes but still ended up ordering an encore of the seafood hor fun. If you are in Batam, do check out the seafood hor fun at Liang Kee 888 Restaurant 亮记海鲜. It was the best seafood hor fun I've had for a long time.

  1. We just ate here... And did an encore order of the otah balls 😋. Imagined otah otah made in a ball shape with shreds of kefir lime leaf and stuffed with pieces of chopped up squid, covered with crunchy dough bits.. Eat it while it is hot!
