Hong Kong Boy Johor Jaya • Glutton Street of JB 新山貪吃街 • 香港仔美食中心

Johor Bahru has a few food streets such as Meldrum Walk, alley behind Chartered Bank, etc., but the largest and most popular now is Hong Kong Boy in Johor Jaya.

Hong Kong Boy Johor Jaya Food Street 香港仔美食中心

Address: 2, Jalan Dedap 22, Johor Jaya, 81100 Johor Bahru

Tel: +6017 716 2033

Hours: 5:00pm - 11:30pm

There are more than 50 food stalls in and around Hong Kong Boy. The food street is popular with locals for dinner and supper. It is located near Jusco Tebrau and IKEA Tebrau, so if you are shopping there, Hong Kong Boy is a possible dinner option.

The food street is named after Restoran Hong Kong Boy kopitiam at the intersection of Jalan Dedap 13 and Dedap 22.

Most stalls start business around 5pm and the party is in full swing by 6:30 pm.

Let's take a walk together to see what Hong Kong Boy food street offers. I've not tried many of the stalls here and not sure if there are Johor champions among them. But, the atmosphere of a large collection of open air food stalls and the party vibes make Hong Kong Boy an interesting food destination and hyperlocal experience.

This poh piah stall is popular. It is located on the left as you enter the food street from Jalan Dedap 13.

Ikan bakar stall. The seafood are fresh, prices are seasonal and by weight but are reasonable. However, I personally felt their sambal was a little too robust and leaning on the salty side.

There are two charcoal grilled chicken wing stalls.

Charcoal grilled chicken (thighs and chicken Maryland).

There are two oyster omelette stalls here. Stole this picture from another customer's table 😬

Lok lok is always popular.

Claypot chicken rice.

I wonder what is Penang Nyonya Curry Rice, so earmarked this for trying next time.

There are a few Thai food stalls.

Thai style stewed pork trotter and leg.

I want to try this leg next time when I have kaki kaki with me.

Here at Hong Kong Boy, you place your order at the stall, pay and will be given a tag. Bring it back to your table. Your food will be served to you at your table like in a restaurant. So good.

The second ikan bakar stall which I haven't tried.

There are a few popular food stalls inside Hong Kong Boy coffee shop itself such as this Thai food stall.

The kway teow kia (JB style kway chap - braised pork offal eaten with noodles) stall inside Hong Kong Boy looks enticing.

This pipa duck stall has been around for as long as I can remember, so it has its own loyal following, though I have not tried it myself yet.

This char kway teow stall inside Hong Kong Boy coffee shop fry their noodles over charcoal. It is still run by the same hawkers since I blogged about them in 2014 (approaching 10 years already).

Check out Hong Kong Boy glutton street in Johor Jaya for dinner for a different type of dining experience in Johor Bahru.

I took this video in 2016, when visiting the roast duck stall but the stall has moved (to where, I don't know).
