Haven't been to KS Treasures (Sentosa) since before Covid - they have since revamped their menu.

KS Treasures still serves a wide variety of Chinese dishes but now as a casual diner with competitive pricing instead of a fine restaurant.

KS Treasures' fine dining menu and more will be served in a new concept restaurant to be opened in Taman Pelangi very soon.

What it means for us diners is we get to enjoy dishes at affordable prices in a fine restaurant environment at KS Treasures Sentosa.

The private room is still there and available for booking.

I tried the revamped KS Treasures Sentosa today, and was quite blown away by what I was getting for the price.

招牌金汤海鲜泡饭 Mixed Seafood Paofan.

Paofan with boiled and puffed rice with five types of seafood soaking in full bodied umami rich superior stock.

There's prawn, squid, flower crab, clam, sea bass fish - for how much?

RM28.80++

Okay.... It wasn't served with the clichéd drama and theatrics of pouring puffed rice into the bubbling porridge for that Tik Tok or Instagram post but there was really no need as the taste spoke very well for itself.

The rich umami saturated stock was full bodied. The rice was tender nutty and the fried puffed rice still had a bit of residual crispness despite soaking up the soup and its savoury sweet flavours.

This was one of the best paofan that I have tasted so far. The best for RM28.80++ that's for sure.

火爆酸菜 啦啦粉 Signature Suancai Clam Soup RM16.80++

Tailor made for la la clam lovers. The meaty clams were fresh, well cleaned (no sand), succulent, sweet.

Tangy savoury sweet suancai (preserved mustard) flavour has taken the Chinese culinary world by storm, and KS Treasures has kept up with the times.

Enjoyed it all with soft, thick, slurpy rice noodles. RM16.80++ nia nia.

招牌沙烫鱼头 Wok Fried Fish Head in Special Sauce RM29.80++

Orh lu lu nothing to look at. It's sea bass and ikan merah fish heads, chopped into large meaty chunks, stir fried in a robustly savoury sauce with aromatics (such as curry leaves and dried chili pepper), and served in a clay pot. The robust sauce overwhelmed the fish's delicate natural flavours but this is one of KS's best sellers. It worked well with rice and soupy dishes.

蒜辣铁板蚝蛋 Oyster Omelette with Garlic Chili on Iron Plate RM16.80++

Fresh thumb size plump juicy oysters on a soft fluffy bed of beaten eggs and a bit of savoury spicy garlicky sauce. A huge oyster omelette pie at street hawker price (of RM16.80++).

招牌四川辣子鸡 Sichuan Diced Chicken RM32.80++

It's "popcorn" chicken - cubed chicken battered, deep fried to crispness outside, and then stir fried with dried chili pepper and fried old ginger slices. Served sprinkled with chopped scallion and toasted sesame seed.

Crisp, moist inside, savoury, spicy hot from chili and ginger.

The ginger itself was fun to eat like spicy keropok (crispy cracker).

酥炸时日小鱼 Daily Fish (catch of the day).

These small market fresh fish were deep fried and served with KS Treasures' signature Thai style zesty tangy sweet spicy relish.

脆皮手工鱼肉乌达 Crispy Handmade Otak RM9.80++

First time having deep fried otak otak (always had it steamed or grilled). Quite nice, something different, the familiar spice, coconut milk, and fish flavours were all there encased in a slightly crisp crust outside.

血蛤 See Hum or Blood Cockles RM11.80++

Fresh, simply blanched, served with a hot chili sauce.

Tasty dishes, affordable prices, restaurant comfort and service at convenient location with plenty of street side parking. Worth a try alone, just a couple, or with a larger group.
