I was invited to a media preview of Thistle Hotel's annual Ramadan buffet.
This year's event is known as Kampung Kita Ramadan Buffet featuring traditional Malay dishes, the kind that nenek (grandmother) lovingly fussed over during the Holy Month.
On the menu are traditional dishes like Ayam Masak Kurma, Daging Masak Hitam, Asam Pedas Ikan Pari, Ayam Masak Merah, Ayam Masak Madu, Daging Dendeng, Patin Masak Chili and lots more.
I am not going to pretend that I know the name of every dish in the too extensive buffet spread. So, I'll just let the food speak for themselves :-D
Patin Masak Chili.
Fried chicken with tofu, broccoli and carrots in Superior sauce.
Ikan Tengerri in spicy gravy.
Daging Dendeng.
Ayam Masak Kurma.
Fried prawns in cereal batter.
There will also be the ever popular Roasted Whole Lamb (kambing golek) and live stations serving satay, keropok lekor, sup tulang and soto.
Remember to bring your dessert stomach when you come for Thistle's Ramadan buffet. There are over 20 types of traditional Malay kuih and also Western style cakes and puddings to wrap up the feasting on a sweet note.
Remember to try Thistle's signature fried durian fritter, otherwise you will regret and everyone is too busy eating to feel sorry for you ;-p
More kuih and cakes to feast..... your eyes... burp.
The pulut durian doesn't look appetising at first sight but once you start, you may not be able to stop. So, stay away if you are on a diet :-D
Joking..... this pulut durian is really good! Worth your calories.
Ah... such delicate works of edible art.
Thank you Chef Mahmud (left) and team for the sumptuous and scrumptious Ramadan buffet (preview).
