Bangkok is tough. I mean choosing a luxury hotel in Bangkok is hard.

Because, there are so many excellent hotels to choose from, we are really, really spoiled for choice.

I stayed twice at Kimpton Maa-Lai over the years, and it's one of the Bangkok hotels I like.

Kimpton Maa-Lai is centrally located between Lumphini Park and Erawan Shrine.

It is an ideal base for exploring the Chidlom neighbourhood - the upscale shopping, dining, personal services and entertainment hotspot of Bangkok.

I created this one day Chidlom tour, eat and shop itinerary using Kimpton Maa-Lai hotel as my base.

Fuss free, professional, welcoming check in (and out).

Got my access card / key in a jiffy.

Come on in.

The room and view outside were beautiful. The space was quiet and relaxing. The impeccably clean king size mattress and linen were thick and the right firmness for me. The air smelt refreshingly clean (I don't take this for granted). Amenities and bar were comprehensive and well stocked. Has huge walk-in wardrobe, bathtub for soaking, and all the luxuries needed for an enjoyable self-pampering stay.

My room had everything I want for a good stay.

Slept like a ~~baby~~ log.

Woke up refreshed, took a morning dip in the infinity pool and worked up an appetite in the well equipped gym before the much anticipated breakfast 🤭

I usually "don't waste stomach space" on hotel breakfasts even when it is included in the room rate 😬 Indeed, I normally check if they have a no breakfast rate 🤭

When traveling, I prefer to have breakfast at hyperlocal places outside the hotel to experience and understand how locals live.

But, the breakfast at Kimpton Maa-Lai is one that I won't want to skip 🤭

The buffet spread is amazing - International (Western, Continental, Middle Eastern, South Asian, etc) and Thai sections.

All sections have live stations, we get freshly cooked hot food professionally executed a la minute with care and pride.

Don't even have to stand and wait at the station. Just inform the chef of your table number and your order will be delivered to you once it is ready.

After breakfast at Kimpton Maa-Lai, we had a memorable day exploring the Chidlom neighborhood.

Kimpton Maa-Lai is so centrally located in Chidlom that we can sneak back to its CRAFT Bar & Lounge for coffee and chilling out between visiting attractions 🤭

CRAFT has a cool, lush garden view, pet-friendly outdoor section which is very popular with Bangkok pawrents.

Kimpton Maa-Lai understands pet lovers and CRAFT is well setup for pawrents and their furbabies to spend quality time together in the lovingly manicured hotel garden.

CRAFT has a nice bar and also serves freshly brewed single origin espressos & lattes. Has lots of cakes, pastries, sandwiches and a la minute light meals on the menu.

Don't ask me how we found stomach space for these (straight after lunch at Savoey Seafood and Cafe DIOR) 🤣

And, continue on to cocktails and ice cream 😅

Then, back out on the streets of Chidlom again.

After our long day and heavy dinner at Menya Itto in Chidlom, we retired to Bar.Yard, the famous multi-award winning roof top bar on the 40th floor of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

Hotel guests and Bangkokians gravitate here for the popular DJs' selections, delicious cuisine and innovative drinks, as well as the breathtaking, sprawling Bangkok skyline.
