Thanks to friends John and Clara, we went to Mississauga Chinese Centre for lunch today. We had lobster, crab and dim sum at Blue Lagoon Seafood Master.
Many friends in Toronto mentioned that I must try the popular pork knuckles at the Mennonite Heidelberg Restaurant near University of Waterloo, Ontario. So, we came here with great expectations thanks to our friend Brooke whose family lives near the restaurant 😄
Niagara Falls is one of the natural wonders of the world. Anyone who has seen it will be awed by the force, power and beauty of Mother Nature.
The cherry blossoms are now in full bloom at High Park in Toronto!
I wasn't going to have another gamjatang or Korean style pork bone soup today. I had gamjatang at ten different places in Toronto already and it is time I try other food here 😂 Furthermore, my current stay in Toronto is coming to an end soon 😂
For many Torontonians, their Saturday morning ritual includes a visit to the Farmer's Market at St. Lawrence Market. Farmer's Markets like this is one of the reasons why I think Toronto is a home cook's paradise.
The homely butter tart is one of Canada's signature desserts. If you are visiting Canada, you must not leave without tasting a butter tart 😄 Any credible list of Toronto's best butter tarts will inevitably include Andrea's Bakery in East Chinatown.
I am a bit crazy about streetcars.
I love their vintage look - I think they are beautiful. I like the muffled rumble they make - the sound of steel wheels rolling on steel tracks as they approach. The "ice cream" bell. I appreciate it that they are smoke free - fresh air is a blessing not to be taken for granted. It is great that they are nearly everywhere you need them in the city. They are also comfortable and convenient.
In Toronto, the subway, buses and streetcars are fully integrated. You can freely transfer between subway, bus or streetcar, paying a flat rate of CDN3 only once to complete your trip.
I know I shouldn't but I have a little indulgence whenever I am in Toronto's Koreatown at Bloor St. West. After my always heavy lunch in Koreatown's little ajumma (auntie run) restaurants, I couldn't resist this fish-shape waffle at Kevin's Taiyaki.
When visiting Toronto, do try a peameal bacon sandwich which is one of TO's signature dishes.
When I am travelling, I rarely go back to the same restaurant as time is short and I would like to try as many different restaurants as possible before returning home. But, this was my second time in Kimchi House in Koreatown within a week. There are many things I like about this little ajumma (auntie run) eatery - one of over a dozen such homely comfort food shops in Toronto's little Korea.
With my lunch at King's Noodle today, I have completed my round up of all the roast ducks in old school Cantonese roast shops in downtown Toronto 😄 King's Noodle is a decades old stalwart of Old Chinatown - it just re-opened today after a month long renovation.
I have passed by Sing Sing B.B.Q. House a few times while searching for good things to eat in Toronto. But, Sing Sing B.B.Q. is a take out only shop, so it was only today that I finally bought a roast duck from them to eat at home.
I had my first seolleongtang or Korean beef bone soup today 😄 Not many restaurants have this dish as it is so tedious to make. It's a fortifying, comfort dish Korean moms lovingly make for the family. I quickly check myself in once I found out that Kimchi House at 586 Bloor St. West has seolleongtang 😄
Stumbled upon Paldogangsu restaurant in Koreatown today and was delighted with their gamjatang or Korean pork bone soup.
Koreatown Toronto is one of the ethnic enclaves of multicultural Canada. In Toronto, Canada's largest city and financial centre, there's Little Portugal, Little Italy, Chinatown, etc all colourful, all with their own character and unique charm. They are all worth a visit when you are in Toronto.
Today, I dropped in on a shopping centre food court in my quest to track down all the traditional Cantonese roast duck places in downtown Toronto. I love fatty Canadian roast ducks 😄
My search for Toronto's traditional Cantonese roasts brought me to East Chinatown which stretches 3 blocks west to east along Gerrard Street East between Broadview Ave (in the west) and Carlaw Ave (in the east).
One more gamjatang or Korean pork bone soup before I move on to explore other popular Korean staples in Koreatown Toronto 😄 Today, I am at The Owl (Boo Ung Ee) at 700, Bloor Street West.
CLOSED Seoul Restaurant on 621 Bloor Street West is one of the dozen of budget eateries in Toronto's Koreatown serving authentic home style dishes.
My continuing obsession with gamjatang or Korean style pork bone soup took me to Mom's Korean Food in Toronto's Koreatown (again) for dinner 😄
I stumbled upon Jung Soo Nae Korean restaurant along Yonge Street near
to Finch subway station. I was sightseeing along the stretch of Yonge
Street between Centerpoint Mall and Finch subway station when I spotted
a stream of people walking into this little restaurant.
Our lunch was at Piggy's Korean BBQ Restaurant in Thornhill which is popular with Koreans in Toronto.

One of the best free things to do in Toronto is to visit the Art Gallery of Ontario on Wednesday nights. AGO has extensive collections of art through the ages from The Renaissance to Contemporary, and from all corners of the world.
One of the most fascinating is the art of Canada's northern indigenous people, the Inuit (which people from outside Canada usually refer to as Eskimos).
