Recently Johor Bahru social media is abuzz about an old school charcoal claypot chicken rice stall in Masai shared by buddy Lee HY. We went to visit it as there are only a small handful of charcoal claypot rice in JB now - I know only 2 others.

The 怡保砂煲鸡饭 Ipoh claypot chicken rice stall which had been at Restoran 777 for the past 8 years, is run by the boss who does all the cooking and just one helper who delivers the food and collects the money.
Yi Sheng Claypot Chicken Rice in Pontian, Johor
While trying to locate a Pontian wanton mee shop, I chanced upon Yi Sheng claypot chicken rice. The shop was doing a brisk business on a Sunday morning. I drove past the bustling shop twice, while circling the town for good food finds, and finally allowed myself to be waylaid when I passed Yi Sheng for the 3rd time.
