Ming Jii Chee Cheong Fun Kampar Style📍Johor Jaya Dedap 19 明记金宝猪肠粉 ☏ +6018 219 1962

Ming Jii Chee Cheong Fun in Taman Johor Jaya has a steady following of local folks. It is a comfort rice noodle dish with options for sauces and eaten with a variety of small bite size sides.

Largest Chee Cheong Fun Restaurant in JB. G Cheong Fun 怡保 (手工) 猪肠粉

When I have friends from Hong Kong or Guangzhou China visiting, I like to prank them by taking them to eat Malaysian chee cheong fun 豬腸粉 😂 What Malaysians have done to their beloved staple, never fails to amaze and amuse them. In Johor Bahru, I will take them to either G Cheong Fun in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah (or Kampar Chee Cheong Fun in Taman Johor Jaya).

I am so glad that Sarah brought us to Chew Lam Hong Kong Che Chong Fan stall at Kluang's popular Mengkibol River Hawker Centre.

Actually, this was my second time at Chew Lam Hong Kong Che Chong Fan.

Getting a Taste of Penang Food at Taste of Georgetown near Sutera Mall

Buddies Ong and Ben tipped me off to Taste of Georgetown, a little eatery near Sutera Mall in JB serving Penang style street food. (My inbox is flooded with good food suggestions 😋 Keep them coming 👍 I appreciate it 😄 )

Kampar 金宝 is a charming, quaint little town near Ipoh in Perak famous for its chee cheong fun 豬腸粉. I heard about the two stalls in JB selling Kampar style chee cheong fun; one is Restoran Kampar CS in Taman Johor Jaya, and the other is Restoran G Cheong Fun in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah (TUTA).

Is this Johor Bahru’s most FUN breakfast place?

As its name G. Cheong Fun Restaurant boldly declares, the main dish in this popular shop is chee cheong fun.

In addition to Kampar (Perak) style chee cheong fun which is hand chopped to look like kway teow, this shop offers a wide range of side dishes that go very well with the chee cheong fun.

The Kampar style chee cheong fun is served with several different sauces.

I especially like the curry sauce. It is a mild curry - slightly sweet and just a little spicy. When tossed and mixed with the kway teow, it makes a delightful fresh and flavourful dish.

The sweet sauce is the shop's special blend. The sauce is sweet but not the sugary kind - indication that it is made from fresh ingredients and not factory supplied which tends to be sugary and salty due to use of preservatives.

The shop offers a wide variety of side dishes to go with the chee cheong fun.

I like the yam cake which is freshly made at the shop. There are chunky bits of yam. It is tender and tasty.

Another of my favourites is the pork skin. This pork skin is deep fried, steamed and then drenched in a mild spicy sauce. When I bite into it, it felt like an edible spongy bubble wrap of flavour. The skin is chewy and seemed to gently bounce back against the teeth. This food is tasty and fun to eat.
