Rabin, the manager at Dome at Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) invited me to visit the cafe.
Dome cafe originally from Perth, Australia, now has over 100 outlets in 7 countries. There are more than 10 Dome cafes in Malaysia - this one at JPO is the only one in Johor.
Inside, Dome JPO has their signature classic colonial, classy yet casual ambiance.
The decor was familiar like any Dome outlet and it made me felt at home, instantly.
Nice comforting blend of oak wood trimmings and green panels. The place has a warm inviting feel - somewhere nice where we can park our tired bodies and cool our overheated heels for a while in between bargain hunting.
The heavy, quality china exults a touch of class at Dome.
The signature dome with a vintage world map at Dome Cafe - the signature centerpiece at all Dome cafes. (My camera lens wasn't wide enough to take in the whole dome :P ).
Once we were comfortably settled in, we let the food roll in :P
Managers Rabin and Wendy started us off with a cup of this homely wild mushroom soup.
Made with a blend of fresh chopped mushrooms, the warm creamy soup had plenty of interesting bite from spongy bits of mushroom and savoury mushroomy flavours.
One of the better mushroom soups that I have tasted.
Spaghetti in a mildly spicy creamy chicken and mushroom sauce (RM25++). The spaghetti was done according to local preference, which is between el dente and soft.
Not the classic Italian spaghetti for purists, but a very likable locally inspired rendition.
The seafood spaghetti (RM30++) was loaded with fish, prawns, mussels and squid rings smothered in a thick and heavy garlic seafood sauce.
Look at that huge generous pile of fresh seafood.
The sweet, salty, cheesy and savoury garlic seafood sauce was rich, velvety and creamy.
Dome's LOT Burger (RM28++).
It is a hearty stack of sunny side up, cheddar slice, grilled ground beef patty, tangy tomato relish, aromatic beef rasher, juicy sliced tomato, lettuce, refreshing greens and mustard mayonnaise sandwiched in a toasted focaccia bun.
A mouthful but a well known chef once told me some time ago that the best way to enjoy a burger, is.... by the big mouthful. Take a big bite with everything in the stack and chew on it!
Enjoy!
Wendy was eager for us to try Dome's Gourmet Chicken Pie.
A warm homely bowl of tender sweet chicken in a creamy mushroom, corn and barley soup covered with a flakey buttery pastry cap (RM26++). Served with sauteed and slightly caramelised mixed vegetables.
This is one of Dome's popular signature menu items.
It's a whole meal in itself - carbs, meat and greens in one delicious serving.
The cheese cake was dense and heavy, with robust and rich cheese flavours. The macadamia nuts and caramel added crunch and sweetness to the cake.
My usual flat white - single shot espresso topped with steamed milk sans sugar. Robust flavour, nice smelling Arabica.
Dome is proud of their coffee, proclaiming it "World's Finest Coffees".
The man at the helm in the kitchen is Johor boy Chef Azmy who has fine dining work experience in a renowned KL restaurant.
Dome is a very attractive dining option when shopping at Johor Premium Outlets JPO.
