Ningxia Night Market - A Little Popular Taipei Local Hangout🌜

🌜Fang Chia Shredded Chicken on the Rice 方家雞肉飯 made it into the Michelin Bib Gourmand Selection in 2019. It's shredded chicken over boiled white rice splashed with a savoury sweet sauce and chicken oil blend.

A simple comforting dish. They are generous with the chicken meat which is tender though not extremely smooth and juicy. The clincher is their sauce. Quite tasty when eaten with the layered savoury sweet aromatic sauce.

This stall also serves a well regarded lu rou fan or stewed pork rice.

🌜Rong's Pork Liver 豬肝榮仔 is a 60 year old, third generation stall. It is listed in Taipei's inaugural Michelin Bib Gourmand Selection in 2018.

The relatively clear soup tastes savoury sweet with some tanginess from pickled cabbage. The pork liver is cut relatively thick. It is tender and smooth with a subtle crunch to the bite. Tastes fresh and have that signature taste of liver. Liver lovers will like this. (You can request for sliced pork maw and meat slices combined with liver in your serving.)

🌜Liu Yu Zi 劉芋仔 is in the 2018 and 2019 Michelin Bib Gourmand Selection honour roll. This is probably the busiest stall at Ningxia night market.

This stall sells taro (yam) balls. There are two flavours - just pure taro and the other with salted duck egg yolk and pork floss filling. The taro are mashed at the stall with fresh yam.

The taro ball has a crisp outside, while inside it is tender and moist. The mashed taro is sweetish savoury.

The salted duck egg yolk and pork floss with taro ball has more layered savoury sweet flavours inside.

Ningxia Night Market is popular with locals for their range of local street food. Busy though not as crowded as those touristy ones like Shilin and Roahe, yet Ningxia is not short of top billing stalls. Locals like to come here and browse without the crushing crowds.

Just don't come here on Mondays as many stalls here close on that day.
