Soft Serve Ice Cream in Johor Bahru - Koone and By Grace, Trus JK1350
Henna by Koone at Jalan Dhoby. Chocolate soft serve, lava molten cake, bits of brownie, crushed nuts, coco cookies soils, passionfruit puree, royal hazelnut feulletine, red velvet donuts.
Soft serve ice cream is the latest food fad to sweep across the globe and arrive in Johor Bahru's oldest streets.
Soft serve ice cream is really exactly the same as regular ice cream, but softer. The ice cream machine is simply set to put more air in the ice cream to make it soft. (That's all really, except for new twists which we shall see later :-D )
Confession: I often couldn't resist a good 'ol MacDonalds soft serve ice cream whenever I pass by a kiosk. It's an inexpensive and delicious treat for myself lah :-D
At RM1.50 a pop, why not right?
Matcho by Koone at Jalan Dhoby. Matcha soft serve, Japanese dango, azuki beans, green tea soils, wild honey, and red velvet donuts. The cup isn't as big it looks lah. Half of it is compartment for dry ice.
The latest soft serves come at RM18.90 and above. The higher price, notwithstanding, the two soft serve shops in Johor Bahru are doing brisk business.
So, what's behind the soft serve craze?
Well, besides the usual plain vanilla and chocolate flavours, the trendy soft serves come in all kinds of imaginable flavours such as matcha, yogurt, strawberry, osmanthus, persimmon and more new ones every week.
Osmanthus Charcoal Soft Serve from By Grace, Trus. Dried longan muffin, goji berries, osmanthus charcoal ice cream, rice crispies pop and osmanthus/goji berry jelly.
The interesting flavours tease our taste buds and provide cool talking points when chilling out with friends.
A big draw of the soft serve shops are their signature interior designs. Koone at Jalan Dhoby has a loft seating area. It's a great place for wefies :-D
Soft serves are eminently "Instagrammable" foods. It's a modern ritual to photograph our food and share it on social media before the first mouthful. Fancy soft serves are one of those foods that every self respecting Blogger/ Instagrammer/ Facebooker must have on their social media feed ;-D
I still prefer my MacDonalds soft serve for taste, but they don't look half as good in photos leh........
Can you think of any other reasons why you love the cool new soft serves?

Try The Cream Project, very recommended 👍🏻 well for me By Grace is something special, but the price lil bit expensive for softserve, they promote interior instead of taste. Maybe ill not go often, maybe once in a while. The ice cream project's ice cream/gelato something i want to go everyday !!
