I wouldn't have known about this place and would have walked right past it a thousand times had buddy not brought me here 🙏
The signage Mnemonic Brew on the glass doesn't really stand out.
Inside it was just a small one-man-operation coffee and cocktail bar with 5 or 6 bar stools, back close against the glass wall.
And, a small bookshelf with a seemingly random, eclectic selection of spirits for cocktails.
Then, I was served this most carefully prepared, prettiest cappuccino I've had for a very long time, anywhere in the world. I've not seen coffee with such thick, rich crema for quite awhile.
These past few days, I have been feeling a bit low energy but suddenly, I sat up and started to pay attention.
Malacca boy, owner Simeon Leo preparing buddy's order.
Simeon remembers buddy's usual order - I don't know what it was 😂
I can't remember buddy's order but watching Simeon, I can't forget how focused and serious he was with every order. That's enough for me - anyone who put their heart and soul into what they make, it will always be good enough for me and I know it will be even better next time, every time.
Perched on my bar stool, watching the CBD crowd below from the window while enjoying my robust nutty savoury bitter sweet, non acidic Arabica brew - in that moment, what more do I need?
Need someone to talk to, can talk to Simeon like so many of his regulars 😄
(And, that's the thing. If you go to a big corporation coffee chain, you can't talk to the barista / owner like a friend.)
I didn't ask about the coffee bean details but heard it was a blend of Colombian and Brazilian - I was just here to chillax 😊
Simeon's signature (torched) smoked cinnamon latte, which I want to try next time. He has many other brews on menu including dirty coffee, magic coffee, Thyme on the Rocks, Salted Kaya Coffee, cold brews, etc.
Prices range from $6 to $8 per serving. Now, I know where to chill next time I am in Singapore CBD (Central Business District).
I will be back to hangout here when I am around Singapore CBD.
