Chuan Kee Boneless Duck Rice stall #01-159 is without doubt the most popular in Chong Pang food centre. They use fresh ducks to make their soy sauce braised ducks which are tender, juicy, and tastes savoury with subtle Chinese 5 spice flavour.
Super Penyet stall #01-170. I used to have their Nasi Goreng Ayam Penyet at least twice a week when I was living nearby. The fried rice is flavoursome, the meaty, lightly marinated fried chicken thigh is crisp outside and juicy inside but the killer is their power sambal chili. Pulpy with lots of chili, garlic and onions, tastes savoury sweet spicy with the heat coming at the end. Pro-tip: Always request for more sambal chili but waste nothing (as chili is expensive).
Haji Ali Cooked Food stall #01-171 is Super Penyet's next door neighbour. They serve a range of Malay staples and the dish to get here is their lontong. House made ketuput, soft-soft tofu, rich vegetable curry, serunding and sambal chili. Delicious and all for $2.50.
Tian Ji Shu Shi stall #01-141. The thing to get here is their prawn noodle soup. The clean tasting soup is old school robust (i.e. not over the top) with crustacean umami-savouriness. I like it that the fresh prawns are shelled, so I can eat them without getting my fingers wet and greasy. I need my fingers clean to handle the camera mah... . Very fresh lean pork slices too. The Supreme Prawn Noodle costs just $4. They also have pork rib and pig tail noodles.
Nyonya Chendol stall #01-162 is another franchise outlet - one of many across the island. Chendol is another traditional dish that can be franchised without compromising quality. It's a mound of shaved ice set in a pool of coconut milk, covered with boiled red beans and green pandan flavour "noodles", and smothered with gooey palm sugar (gula Melaka). Great after meal snack especially on hot days. (Nyonya Chendol's Bukit Timah outlet.)
Bai Nian Niang Dou Fu stall is yet another franchise outlet (Chong Pang food centre have many franchise brand stalls ๐ค ). Bian Nian is a unique, created in Singapore style of yong tau fu. It's noodles in an anchovy, soy bean soup topped with prawn ball, pork ball, tau kwa (fried tofu), bitter gourd stuffed with pork, and fried fish roll. Nice blend of savoury and subtle sweet flavours. They also have a "dry" version with chili and sweet-savoury sauce. Pro-tip: If you like fried chicken, get their set which is yong tau fu with excellent fried chicken wings. (Bai Nian's Viva Business Park flagship.)
Xiang Xiang Fishball Noodle stall #01-177 is a hometown darling. Don't be deceived by the "short" queue. Xiang Xiang is one of the rare hawker stalls that still serve customers at their tables. If you see folks sitting at tables with no food, they are likely to be waiting for their Xiang Xiang fishball noodles. Waiting time is around 30 minutes. Truth be told, it is not the mind blowing taste that attracts me to this stall but the homely feel, the familiar, and the warm feeling when someone wants to feed you well and care about how you like the taste. For Xiang Xiang's fans, it is like family.
Pin Xiang stall #01-141 operates two woks and serve fried carrot cake (black & white), orh chien (fried oyster omelette), char kway teow, and even Ponggol mee goreng. They have Singapore and Penang style char kway teow both nicely done with wok hei (a bit) we can taste and smell. Their SG version is a little too wet for my liking but all other departments are OK ๐ Pin Xiang's cockles are good size when others are serving baby size, and they fry their own pork lard fresh everyday.
I missed out your favourite(s)?
That's outrageous! ๐ค

I love the the Fan Cai economy stall along the same roll as the prawn noodle stall. Another firm favorite of mine is the ๆๅทฅๅ handmade Pao and Dim Sum in the row facing the market.
