The little joint is located at the eastern end of Jalan Maju in Taman Pelangi.
(Side note: Years after it had closed, Greenet Restaurant & Bar which was in this same building is still being mentioned fondly as one of the legends of JB F & B scene.)
Somewhat away from the day tripper hotspots but Sweet Blossom attracts many from across the Causeway.
The decor is minimalist chic but comfortable. It is popular with coffee nerds as well as folks from both sides of the Causeway who just want a quiet place to cool their heels. Sweet Blossom is in that sweet spot that appeals to both the coffee geek niche and general public.
The menu is very simple (quite unlike the many options for Nanyang kopi).
No food, no snacks, no cakes 😄 Just good coffee.
Sweet Blossom's appeal is their constant renewal of coffee beans and profiles providing talking points for Arabica connoisseurs.
For coffee enthusiasts, Sweet Blossom offers premium single origin Arabica which are freshly roasted in house.
Owner Yee Siang will be celebrating Sweet Blossom's tenth anniversary next year. An achievement for an independent small coffee joint and roaster in the volatile, saturated JB coffee market (which in the last ten years included two years of lockdowns during the Covid pandemic).
The same Simonelli machine, the Ferrari of coffee machines, still presses out the brews since the opening of Sweet Blossom in 2015.
Yee Siang has new concoctions for customers with every visit as he is an alchemist constantly creating new profiles with premium Arabica.
Some places may deliver prettier latte art, but with Yee Siang, one of JB's top baristas, you can trust that the coffee is always well made, smell and taste good. Prices are friendly too.
To me it is reliability, a well made coffee every time, different profiles but never fails to please. I also like the atmospherics here and the lighting is great for portrait photography.
