We gathered here in BLK 721 Ang Mo Kio to try out a brand new food stall serving a modern take on bak chor mee. Yeah nowadays, there's a genre which I would call modern bak chor mee like 25 in Bukit Merah, etc.

Scrolling through our to-eat lists, the name Char Siu Lang 叉烧人狼 at 340 Ang Mo Kio popped up. To reduce the risk of wasted calories, Aaron called makan kaki Royden who lives nearby to double confirm. Royden vouched for CSL, and so we set off for it.

I want to say right off the bat that this kway chap stall at Chong Boon hawker centre in Ang Mo Kio is slightly controversial. Some people found the food "bland" and the elderly stallholders a little brusque. Google review score is 2.4 ⭐ as at Oct 2023.

We decided to come here for fish soup partly because the last one we recently had at Toa Payoh was really bad 😤 We needed to find something to erase the memories of that one 🥹 Of course, we can always go back to our tried and tested favourites, but we are greedy - we want good and new experiences despite the risks of wasted calories 🫢

Chit chatting with the owners of Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, and don't know how they mentioned that they love the braised pork leg at Eng Kee in Ang Mo Kio. Like that how lah....., that got me excited and craving it since hearing about it.
