We gathered here in BLK 721 Ang Mo Kio to try out a brand new food stall serving a modern take on bak chor mee. Yeah nowadays, there's a genre which I would call modern bak chor mee like 25 in Bukit Merah, etc.

Char Siu Lang @ 340 Ang Mo Kio Maxim Coffee Shop · KL Style Crystal Char Siew in Singapore 宏茂桥叉烧狼

The stalls we wanted to try out all closed today 😞 We needed a Plan B quickly.

Scrolling through our to-eat lists, the name Char Siu Lang 叉烧人狼 at 340 Ang Mo Kio popped up. To reduce the risk of wasted calories, Aaron called makan kaki Royden who lives nearby to double confirm. Royden vouched for CSL, and so we set off for it.

Macpherson Hai Sing Kway Chap · Underated Stall @ Chong Boon Ang Mo Kio 麥波申海星粿汁

I want to say right off the bat that this kway chap stall at Chong Boon hawker centre in Ang Mo Kio is slightly controversial. Some people found the food "bland" and the elderly stallholders a little brusque. Google review score is 2.4 ⭐ as at Oct 2023.

We decided to come here for fish soup partly because the last one we recently had at Toa Payoh was really bad 😤 We needed to find something to erase the memories of that one 🥹 Of course, we can always go back to our tried and tested favourites, but we are greedy - we want good and new experiences despite the risks of wasted calories 🫢

Chit chatting with the owners of Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, and don't know how they mentioned that they love the braised pork leg at Eng Kee in Ang Mo Kio. Like that how lah....., that got me excited and craving it since hearing about it.

It's the morning after Argentina overcome Croatia 3 - 0 in Qatar World Cup 2022. Half of Singapore was stoned (from lack of sleep 🥱 ). We met up at Teck Ghee Court Hawker Centre for some hyperlocal breakfast.

Came early to stalk Cheng San Market & Cooked Food Centre. Song Kee and Xiang Kee fishball stalls both enjoy long queues. I like them both - they are more alike than different.

Stumbled upon the long and growing queue at Hup Kee Fishball stall at the Hong Kong Street Zhen Ji coffee shop at Blk 158 Ang Mo Kio (5 minutes walk from Mayflower MRT station). This was our third food trail stop and fishball wasn't on the agenda. But, we went for it anyway as our curiosity was killing us - we can't wait to find out what Hup Kee was all about, why it commands a constant queue.

Buddies from Johor jio-ed to meet up in Singapore and as usual I am the one who has to suggest where to eat 😬 Johor buddies wanted bak chor mee. I suggested Seng Kee Mushroom Minced Pork Noodles as I remembered that I quite enjoyed myself when I tasted it in Serangoon Garden hawker centre. But, that was six years ago and I haven't visited them since the founder moved to 5023 Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2, late last year.

Song Heng Fishball Noodle @ Ang Mo Kio 628 Market. My Favourite Things Here are Pork Slices, Al Dente Noodles & Excellent Sauce

Saw buddy Aaron recommending on Facebook, Song Heng Fishball Minced Pork Noodle in Ang Mo Kio 628 food centre. As a fan of fishball noodles and Aaron's recommendations, I went to AMK 628 food centre this morning to check out Song Heng. The fishballs were nice (no fish dumplings) but the best things here for me were their al dente noodles, flavourful sauce and deliciously sweet pork slices.

Shu Heng Bi Tai Mak @ Kebun Baru Food Centre. Johor Bahru Style Rat Tail Noodle in Ang Mo Kio

If you miss the lou shi fun or mee tai mak at JB's Kimdo restaurant, now you can your fix at Shu Heng Bi Tai Mak. The three month old stall also have a "dry" version with a savoury tangy spicy lardy sauce which I like a lot. The queue is building up at the stall as word is getting around fast about their delicious mee tai mak.

This is the most popular stall at this little hawker centre frequented mostly by folks who live nearby. But, this wanton mee stall has foodies come from across the island for their old school spicy lardy noodles.

Teck Kee Cooked Food Sheng Mian. Longest Queue "Singapore Ramen" @ Kebun Baru Ang Mo Kio 德记熟食

I have been on the look out for good noodle stalls in Singapore, and so when I saw uncle Bob shared this sheng mian 生面 from Teck Kee Cooked Food 德记熟食, I couldn't wait to taste them myself. I did today, and they were really delicious.

Famous Lao Wu Mutton Soup @ Blk 532 Ang Mo Kio 老吴記羊肉

Ah Huat jio (invited) me to join him at Lao Wu Mutton Soup @ 532 Ang Mo Kio which is a stall in Sunday F & B kopitiam. 老吴記's mutton soup is nice - its flavours are mild with neither pungent mutton gaminess nor strong herbal and ginger taste. Hence, it is extremely popular.

Rahim Muslim Food. Mee Rebus vs Mee Soto. Which One More Power?

We came here drawn by the hype stellar online reputation of Rahim Muslim Food's Mee Rebus Power in Ang Mo Kio's Chong Boon Market. It was nice but we thought their Mee Soto is a sort of unsung hero. Truth be told, their mee soto is my number one choice at Rahim Muslim Food.
