Michelin Recommended Rajarani ThosaišŸ“Tampines Round Market & Food Centre

Rajarani Thosai is a popular breakfast spot at Tampines Round Market & Food Centre.

Rajarani Thosai now has only two items on their menu, thosai and puttu mayam (they no longer serve appam due to limited manpower). Most people were queuing for their thosai which are freshly made on site. (The puttu mayam are factory supplied but popular as well.)

Making the thosai fresh two at a time, partly accounts for the long waiting time. There are over twenty different options for the fillings.

I had the masala egg filling for SGD$4.50. The thosai came with three types of dips - coconut chutney, tomato chutney and dhal.

The fermented rice and lentil batter crepe was relatively thick, well browned and crisp outside (especially at the fringes). It was crispier than most thosai I had before (in Singapore and Malaysia). It was well worth the bit of extra wait due to the longer frying time to crisp the outside well.

Generous amount of potato masala inside the fold. Don't be like Tony - I opened up the thosai just to show you the inside šŸ˜„

Eat the thosai with the potato masala and crepe together.

The potatoes were very soft, spice was mild, the soft inside crisp outside crepe was slightly tangy sweet.

Enjoy the thosai with three different types of dips.

A nice satiating, tasty traditional breakfast.
