We were back at busy Guang Xing Long kopitiam. Just the morning before, we were here to try out the beef noodle stall. I spotted the fish soup stall just next to the beef noodles and decided to check it out today as fish soup is one of my favourite dishes.
Healthful and delicious mah ;-D
The fish soup stall is run singlehandedly by Ah Lai 亞來. It's a one-man-operation. Ah Lai takes orders, cooks, delivers, and collects money. As his fish soup is popular with locals, Ah Lai is very, very busy.
Being a hawker is very hard work.
The RM7 bowl of fish soup.
It's a simple pork bone broth with mild well balanced savoury sweet flavours. The tender strips of fresh black snapper 黑鯛魚 were naturally flavoursome.
There were also slices of fresh red snapper 紅鯛魚.
We also had a bowl of fish head soup for RM7.
Ah Lai ran out of my favourite fish eyes, so I had to settle for jaws and lips :-D
I love the fish skin and gelatinous parts from the fresh fish head.
Crunchy fresh greens.
While waiting for our fish soup, we couldn't resist the aroma as lady boss Yvonne from the economic bee hoon stall fries a wok full of steamy rice vermicelli.
It quickly dawned on us that a plate of freshly fried bee hoon with sunny side up is the perfect pairing for the fish soup :-D
The bee hoon was moist, saturated with the sauce used to fry the rice vermicelli and was not too soft - it had just the right texture for me.
Guang Xing Long 廣兴隆茶餐室 is a good pit stop for breakfast if you are in the Bukit Indah area in the morning.
