Before you read any list of Singapore top bloggers, please note that it is very inaccurate.
Third party estimates like SimilarWeb (and Alexa) have many sources of inaccuracy.
One of them is under counting the traffic of bloggers using the free blogspot platform due to a unique Google feature known as "country specific redirect".
For example, xiaxue.blogspot.com ranks 36 in this list based on SimilarWeb but this substantially underestimates her actual traffic.
Google redirects traffic to a blogspot blog based on the country where the blog is accessed. For example, traffic from Singapore goes to xiaxue.blogspot.sg, traffic from Australia goes to xiaxue.blogspot.au, xiaxue.blogspot.fr for France and so on.
So, significant amounts of Xiaxue's traffic are redirected to xiaxue.blogspot.sg, xiaxue.blogspot.au, etc . Xiaxue's traffic is split between various country specific URLs due to Google's "country specific redirect" feature.
Why does Google do this?
This is a measure to protect the blog and the blogger's freedom of expression. Let's say a blog infringes a country's censorship regulations and is ordered by the country's government to be taken down. Google only needs to take down the particular blog's country specific URL and the blog continues to operate freely elsewhere.
However, unlike Google Analytics, third party estimates (like SimilarWeb and Alexa) are unable to aggregate the total traffic of a blogspot blog once it is redirected to many different country URLs - hence the significant disparity in actual traffic and third party estimates for blogspot bloggers.
More sources of inaccuracies will be discussed next time, but let's go to this month's top bloggers list now.
Bearing in mind the inaccuracies of SimilarWeb, this is the list of the top 50 Singapore bloggers based on their estimated traffic.
