Went to Taman Molek today to visit Molek Prawn Noodle shop after reading about it online. We started with one bowl of basic classic prawn noodle soup with small pork intestines add-on.
For the second bowl, we had the same basic traditional prawn mee soup with my favourite add-on - piggy tail 😀
I was wowed by this broth. It was medium bodied with a nice robust crustacean savouriness, balanced and layered with porcine savoury sweetness. Highly drinkable and I had the urge to have more even after sharing 3 bowls.
The basic bowl of prawn noodle soup come with these small prawns, the size of my little finger. They were fresh and quite juicy sweet.
The small intestines were spongy, sweet with a slight bitterness.
The pig tails had lots of tender juicy sweet fat (I like), a bit of tender chewy skin and soft lean meat.
After the two soupy bowls, we ordered this "Special" dry version with everything in at RM18.
The two large prawns, belly pork, short rib, small intestines, and boiled egg completely covered the yellow noodles underneath.
The sauce is mild and well balanced with savouriness, sweetness and a slight spicy zing from chili sauce. We like this sauce which made the generic yellow noodles enjoyable.
Two large juicy sweet fresh prawns with shell on.
I like this chili sauce. Refreshing savoury with a mild sting.
If you like more chili spiciness, you can add this chili power - not very spicy or hardly spicy but works well in the soup.
Our total bill with a barley drink came to RM41.50.
3-Star (out of 5) mainly because of the robust prawn broth with crustacean savouriness layered with porky savoury sweetness. The basic traditional bowl of prawn noodle soup is good. I also like the basic classic dry version because of the flavoursome sauce.
