Savoey is one of my go-to seafood places in Thailand. The brand founded in 1972 as a street food cart in Patong (Phuket) now has over 10 outlets all over Thailand.
I have already been to the Savoey outlets in Terminal 21 (Asok BTS station) and Tha Maharaj (Chao Phraya riverside). Love them for the high quality ingredients, expert cooking, family friendly comfortable environment, huge menu, and competitive pricing.
The Mercury Ville outlet has the same extensive Savoey menu. And, it further features live, swimming seafood or 游水海鲜 as Cantonese Chinese would say.
Mercury Ville mall is highly accessible as it is located at the doorstep of Chit Lom BTS station. Just take the train here, no traffic jams to worry about and very affordable too.

We started with Phuket Lobster. Prized live spiny lobster from the Pearl of the Andaman.
I am a fan of tropical spiny lobsters because I find their texture more tender crunchy, and flavours more exquisite umami sweet compared to, for example, Maine lobsters.
Lobster meat, cubed, lightly battered and deep fried, served garnished with fried garlic bits.
Tender, spongy, subtly chewy, moist inside, exquisite umami and sweet complemented by gentle savoury spicy garlic.
Grilled on order.
Grilling over charcoal drives away moisture and intensifies flavours in the giant prawn.
Giant river prawn flesh is thick, muscular, chewy, crunchy, firmer than lobster meat. The head butter is creamy like a thick super umami sauce. Personally I feel, Thai giant river prawn is superior to average lobster in mouth feel and flavour.
Live crabs, individually weighed and price tagged. I like this tradition at Savoey as the transparency gives the customer full confidence and builds trust. No shock bills at Savoey.
We had our huge crustacean done in Savoey's signature Stir Fried Mud Crab in Yellow Curry Sauce style.
The exquisite umami sweetness of the crab's succulent soft tender white flesh was well complemented by the gentle sweet spiciness of the creamy rich curry.
Rock Lobster (Mantis Shrimp).
Stir fried with a savoury sauce, basil, chili and aromatics.
Live Steamed Grouper with Soy Sauce garnished with aromatics like julienned ginger and parsley.
Meaty fish! Soft tender with fresh fish sweetness.
Giant Murex Shell.
Served sliced sashimi style. Tender firm, crunchy, subtly umami sweet.
Deep Fried Prawn Cake.
Packed with prawn meat, loaded with fine umami sweetness.
Savoey's Baked Pineapple Fried Rice. Children's favourite sweet savoury dish of turmeric coloured rice and cubed pineapple blanketed with meat floss, crab meat and shelled prawn.
New signature fried rice with fermented shrimp served crowned with crispy fried pork and shelled fried prawns. The nutty fried rice was infused with robust umami savouriness from fermented shrimp.
When in Thailand hor...., I highly recommend ordering stir fried cabbage with your meals. Thai cabbage leaves are fresh, thicker, crunchier, juicier and sweeter. No bitter taste at all.
They are also well executed with savoury fish sauce, oyster sauce and raw garlic which overlay the vegetable sweetness with savoury umami and subtle spicy heat.
I feel a craving while writing this now 😬
Hot and Sour Seafood Soup (Tom Yum Goong).
Didn't get the name of this dessert but it was an excellent combo of Thai traditional sweets. There's ice cream, whipped cream, mango sticky rice and roti sai mai.
Savoey has a wide range of traditional and modern imaginative dessert creations, but today we were showing a lot of restraint.
