Mr Grumpy by Fiie's Cafe Nasi Ayam Goreng Fried Chicken Rice Marsiling Woodlands Outlet

After running an errand near Marsiling MRT station, I walked around looking for lunch. Spotted this Mr Grumpy by Fiie's Cafe Nasi Ayam Goreng stall.

Fiie's Cafe at Lucky Plaza had extensive viral media coverage a few years ago. I have never had it before and since I am already here 来都来了, I decided to give Fiie's a try.

Ayam Gepok Anakmak📍215 Ang Mo Kio ☎️ 89510912

Ayam gepuk craze has been raging in Java Indonesia, Malaysia and now in Singapore. The only ayam gepuk I could find in Singapore, at the moment, is Ayam Gepok Anakmak📍215 Ang Mo Kio, Sinfoodie coffeeshop.

Kacang Pool📍Kedai Kak Nur Yishun Park Hawker Centre

Kacang Pool appeared in Singapore hawker centres only a few decades ago but never became mainstream. Today, only a handful of hawker stalls (less than 10) serve this dish.

Siglap Laksa @ Ole Ole Javiyan📍Bedok Corner ☏ 8186 2515

My laksa Siglap hunt brought me to Bedok Corner, the far east of Singapore today.

If you are looking for a single location for an overview of the food of Singapore Malays, Bedok Corner is one of the best places to check out.

Super Star Original Famous Penang Laksa @ People's Park Food Centre • Halal Certified

You know.... I am not really a big fan of Penang asam laksa because I don't like sour tasting things - most of the Penang laksa that I've had so far made me cringe. (I've had a few in Penang.) I've seen a lot of media coverage about Super Star Original Famous Penang Laksa before but that still doesn't move me 😬 But, when buddy Milton jio-ed (invited) me to join him there, I went along more to lim kopi (drink coffee) nia nia (only) 😬

Warung Selera Masakan Kampung • Nasi Campur by Kak Ani📍60 Changi Road near Joo Chiat Complex

I was excited to visit Warung Selera Masakan Kampung by Kaki Ani thanks to buddy Mark's enthusiasm for this Malay food stall serving traditional nasi campur dishes (and more). It has some dishes rarely found elsewhere and everything was lovingly prepared with fresh ingredients (they don't use frozen meats). We had a great time enjoying the delicious dishes. Even before we left, we were already planning our next visits for more delicious dishes 😬

History of Laksa Siglap • Origins of the Other Singapore Laksa & its Johore Sultanate Roots

When you ask Singaporeans about laksa, most will immediately think of Nyonya or Peranakan laksa. It is the Malay - Chinese fusion curry laksa attributed to Peranakan (Malay for "local born"), exemplified by Katong laksa. Katong laksa has an interesting history.

I passed this way at the food kiosks at Trengganu Street in Singapore's Chinatown many times. But, only now did I start to realise that there are some little gems here.
