Fiie's Cafe at Lucky Plaza had extensive viral media coverage a few years ago. I have never had it before and since I am already here 来都来了, I decided to give Fiie's a try.

Kacang Pool appeared in Singapore hawker centres only a few decades ago but never became mainstream. Today, only a handful of hawker stalls (less than 10) serve this dish.

SANG Seafood • HALAL Johor Chinese Restaurant • Memories of Old Danga Bay • Menu & Review📍Damansara Aliff 尚海鲜 清真 ☏ +6019 737 7556

Alice invited me to lunch with a group of friends at SANG Seafood, a Halal certified Chinese seafood restaurant at Taman Damansara Aliff in Johor Bahru.

I rarely get to try Chinese Halal restaurants because there weren't that many in Johor, or even Malaysia.

The last one I went to was Mohd Chan in Ipoh. So I jumped at the opportunity to visit SANG Seafood at Damansara Aliff (which is at Singapore's doorstep).

Makan Kuy Tho Ce Choi Pan @ Jln Merdeka Singkawang • Formerly @ Rumah Marga Tjhia Kawasan Tradisional ☎ +62 812 1357 1999

Tho Ce Choi Pan | Jl. Merdeka No.32, Melayu, Kec. Singkawang Bar., Kota Singkawang ☎ +62 812 1357 1999 ⏰ 7:30am - 8pm
We heard a lot about choi pan or Hakka style dumplings of Singkawang operating at Rumah Marga Tjhia. The West Kalimantan town of Singkawang has a Hakka & Teochew Chinese population along with Malay and Dayak (mostly Salako).

Singkawang is known as land of Tidayu or Tionghua, Dayak and Malayu. It is also known as Cidayu (Cina, Dayak, Malayu). With around 60% Chinese population, Singkawang is also referred to as the Hong Kong of Kalimantan. Singkawang's chap goh mei (last day of Chinese New Year) celebrations is legendary (but that's another story for future).

Newly opened La Familia serves excellent artisanal pizzas and tortillas - I tried them 👍 They also serve pasta which they also make in-house - I want to try them soon. Judging by their pizzas I am confident that their house made pasta will be nice too.
