Le Jao Jom is one of the must visit places in Ko Chang, especially for foodies.
The tree lined entrance looked like a Japanese restaurant.
The interior was luxuriously furnished, leather padded bench, heavy hardwood tables, and all.
Most people were on the outer side, the veranda of the restaurant as it looked out to the beach and sea 😀 From here, we can hear the rushing surf as it lands on the beach.
In the evenings, we can see the sun set on the Gulf of Thailand from here (next time!).
After we were settled in our seats and while waiting for the food to be served, we couldn't resist dashing outside to grab some pictures of the beautiful beach and surf ourselves 😝 The weather was wonderful - the air was breezy, smelled of the sea, and the sun shining cheery bright.
OK OK back inside for our lunch 😁
Jao Jom Pearl (scallop with shrimp spring roll).
Tender juicy subtly crunchy sautéed fresh scallop in a savoury garlicky sauce dressed with caviar and garlic bits.
Fresh prawn wrapped in a crackly pod made from a bundle of crisp fried vermicelli.
Tom yum soup with tiger prawns.
Meaty prawns in creamy coconut milk saturated with spice and mild chili heat.
Curry with smoked duck.
I love smoked duck for its tenderness and special woody smokey ducky flavour. Combine that with heavily spiced creamy coconut milk which was just mildly hot, it's one of the highlights of the lunch for me.
Massaman curry with lamb.
Full spice and coconut milk well infused into the tender juicy chunks of lamb.
Deep fried grouper with pineapple sauce.
It's like elevated fish and chips with Thai style spicy zesty sweet sauce - that's my impression.
Squid stir fried with salted egg yolk and almonds.
Stir fried Japanese cucumber with egg.
Crunchy juicy sweet cucumber slices overlaid with eggy taste.
Beautiful location, fun cheerful environment, comfortable furnishings, creative dishes blending tradition with modernity, worth a visit when you are in Koh Chang.
