Once we landed in Bangkok's international airport, we were whisked right away to 137 Pillars Suites & Residences 🤭

Walking towards the lobby, the lush, manicured greenery and koi pond instantly calmed us from the early morning rush from Singapore to the legendary traffic of Bangkok.

Oh.. the Memoirs of Lanna high tea is at the Baan Borneo Club inside Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Bar. Don't worry, that doggie on the left was an ornament 😄

So beautiful, elegant inside. Two storeys high, full length glass walls, it's as if the tranquility of the garden flowed seamlessly into the bistro bar sans the humidity and tropical heat.

We were here for Baan Borneo Club by 137 Pillars' popular Memoirs of Lanna high tea.

There were eight exquisite pieces in the thoughtfully curated set, four savoury and four sweet. Every piece was a work of art - a delight to the eyes and delicious to our tastebuds. Each has its own story about old Lanna to tell.

So much heart goes into the welcome drink.

Tea pairings were specially curated by Monsoon Tea, a famous tea plantation in north Thailand.

There were ten teas to choose from - green, black to white. I chose the 137 Pillars Blend known as Mangosteen Anchan Oolong.

An exquisite afternoon tea inspired by the flavours and natural beauty of Chiang Mai (served 1pm to 5pm at Baan Borneo Club at 137 Pillars).

Let's start our journey back in time with Memoirs of Lanna (the old kingdom of Chiang Mai).

Kang Kradang Pla.

Clear curry trout jelly topped with umami saturated caviar paired with aromatic herbs and spices, cradled in juicy crunchy garden fresh cucumber.

A great flavourful yet refreshing start!

Khao Soi Goong

Award winning northern Thai curry of coconut milk, shrimp and mild spices presented as an orange tomato set atop Chiang Mai's iconic crispy Khao Soi noodles.

Nam Prik Ong Cai.

A mildly spicy hot ball made with a blend of northern Thai tomato, chili dip, aromatic Thai herbs and minced chicken set on a slice of boiled egg.

Larb Meung.

Tender nicely grilled premium beef topped with spicy Lanna style larb mousse.

Now to the sweets.

Golden Persimmon Mousse.

Mascarpone mousse filled with golden persimmon compote (sauce) finished with golden glaze, topped with fruit caviar and served set atop chocolate sable.

Driftwood Chocolate.

Rich dark chocolate ganache with a cool caramel mint centre encased in thin, crisp chocolate shell.

Inspired by logs drifting downriver from Chiang Mai to Bangkok during the days of Borneo Trading Company. The log chocolate evokes 137 Pillars' own journey from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, as well as northern Thai ingredients and cuisine blessing the tables and palates of Bangkok.

Gulahp Wang Ping Tartlet.

Mulberry confit set in a crunchy almond praline tart crowned with a lovely North Rose shaped floating cream cheese.

Last but not least, Mild Cocoa Pod Jelly.

A delicate pod of jelly made from rich cocoa extract, encasing yogurt pearls inside.

First stop of our trip to Thailand, starts on a very high note at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences.

Highly recommend unforgettable Memoirs of Lanna high tea when you are in Bangkok.

This exquisite high tea experience is available from now till 15 Jun 2026. Baht 2,400++ per couple or Baht 2,800++ per couple, including 2 glasses of sparkling wines.

Chill a while at 137 Pillars' rooftop pool with a panoramic view of the sprawling Bangkok skyline. This pool was awarded the Best Hotel Pool in Thailand in 2025 by Travel and Leisure magazine.
