Bangkok Village near Sutera Mall in Taman Sutera Utama, Johor Bahru

Thomas, a partner at Bangkok Village Thai Restaurant, invited me to visit their new branch near Sutera Mall.

I had visited Bangkok Village's Tebrau branch before and enjoyed their food as well as the charming garden ambiance there.

Bangkok Village's Sutera branch is more contemporary in style. It has both air conditioned and al fresco sections as well as private rooms.

This time, we picked Thai style steamed fish (siakap), Thai style steamed sotong (squid) and Thai sambal fried rice with petai as we had tried most of Bangkok Village's other dishes. We enjoyed our simple three dish Thai meal today.

The siakap (RM39.80) was fresh and its tender flesh quite sweet.

The fiery looking sauce was tangy, savoury and just mildly spicy.

My friends know that I will always order sotong (squids) whenever it is available. Sotong is one of my favourite foods especially when it is fresh and its flesh bouncy. Bangkok Village's Thai style steamed sotong (RM24.80) was served with a mildly spicy sauce that enhanced the fresh sotong's natural sweetness.

Bangkok Village's Thai sambal fried rice (RM8.80) with petai was well executed. The tasty fried rice complemented the fish and sotong dishes well.

We were happy with our choice of fish, sotong and fried rice. Our simple meal was delicious and not overly filling.

We also enjoyed this traditional lemon grass drink (RM4.80) which was fragrant and sweet.

When shopping in Sutera Mall, Bangkok Village is a good lunch or dinner option.
