So, after durians right... we adjourned to the old Sri Tebrau Market & Hawker Centre 大马小贩中心 for one of my favourite wanton noodles at Yap Wan Tan Mee at stall #65. Oh.. man... I have not eaten Yap's wanton mee for 4 years and I must say this is the most improved wanton mee in JB. Yap Wan Tan Mee has gone from very good to one of the very best.

Lim Beef Mee. JB Sri Tebrau Beef Noodle Stall that Opens Weekends Only

I've heard a lot about Lim Beef Mee 老林牛腩面 in Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre but didn't have a chance to try it until last night as this stall opens on Saturday and Sunday only, and they sometimes have unscheduled off days 😂

No Pork, No Lard, Duck Egg Char Kway Teow. Stall 61 Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre JB ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Char kway teow is a very popular dish in Singapore and Malaysia, so CKT stalls are found everywhere here. Anthony Bourdain called this humble stir fried noodle dish, the "tastiest ugliest mess". But, good CKT stalls are actually rare as CKT is a very hard dish to master. 

Teochew Kuih pop up stand at Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre 潮州粿.大马小贩中心

I stumbled upon Ms Chuah 蔡's pop up stand selling Teochew Kueh in front of stall 47 "Gerai Mee Ayam. Laksa. Johor". Her trays of freshly made Teochew kueh are simply laid and sold on folding tables in front of the closed stall 47.

Dong Hong Traditional Kueh. Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre 东鸿糕粿.大马小贩中心

Dong Hong at Stall 62 of the Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre is popular among JB locals for traditional Teochew kueh. The moment they open for business at 4pm from Saturday to Tuesday, regulars descend on the stall to take away bags of their favourite Teochew kueh 😄

It's all about the Handmade Fish Balls - Ah Hua at Johor Bahru Sri Tebrau Food Centre 亚华手工鱼丸 JK1505

After stumbling upon Ah Hua in Stulang Laut and enjoyed their fish ball noodles back in 2012, Ah Hua moved and I lost track of the stall ever since. So, I was really glad that buddy MC Kee mentioned to me that Ah Hua is now located at Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre. I quickly made my way down to Ah Hua for that long lost feeling of tasting their famed hand made fish balls.

There is something magical about the humble chwee kueh for me. And my favourite, Ngee Heng Chwee Kueh in Johor Bahru, still comes around on a motorcycle 😄

Today, we dropped by at one of the old names of JB wanton mee, Yap 葉记云吞面.

Guo Tie 锅贴 (Pan Fried Dumplings) at Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre, Johor Bahru

I asked Johor Yummy members what to eat at the old Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre and the guo tie 锅贴 (or pan fried dumpling) stall came up a few times. So, I made my way to stall #26 at the dingy old food centre, my interest piqued because this is the only guo tie stall that I have heard of so far in Johor Bahru.

Char Kuay Teow in Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre, Johor Bahru

Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre opened in the 1970s and had its heydays in the 1980s to 1990s. Today, it is less mentioned in foodie circles, perhaps overshadowed by the numerous choices that has sprouted up all over Johor Bahru. It also has a reputation of being dinghy and overpriced.
