La Familia Italian & Mexican Artisanal Pizzas & More @ Taman Tasek Johor Bahru ☏ +6019 895 5564

La Familia | 61, Jalan Glasiar, Taman Tasek, 80200 Johor Bahru ☏ +6019 895 5564 ⏰ 12 noon to 11pm
Newly opened La Familia serves excellent artisanal pizzas and tortillas - I tried them 👍 They also serve pasta which they also make in-house - I want to try them soon. Judging by their pizzas I am confident that their house made pasta will be nice too.

Taman Tasek Hawker Centre in Johor Bahru Malaysia. Untrendy but Cool

Johor Bahru Malaysia has numerous public hawker centres, each with its own character. Taman Tasek Hawker Centre set under huge leafy trees and surrounded by fruit trees may be among the smallest, yet it is well loved by its immediate community and visitors from out of town Malaysia and Singapore.

CLOSED Hay Chooi Coffee Shop Johor Zhi Char - Ah Mah's Cooking 海水餐室

(CLOSED as owner chefs retired.) My Johor friend John brought us to Hay Chooi Coffee Shop 海水餐室 to try what he calls "Ah Mah's cooking".

I rely a lot on the help of locals to show me the best places to eat in Johor Bahru. I must have driven pass along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak a few hundred times, but never knew that there is such a special eatery on the inside road along Jalan Lembah.

✍ 17 Jul 2012. Guo Tiau Zi 果条仔 Tasek is one of most popular kway teow kia stalls in Johor Bahru. The stall started on a wheeled push cart more than 30 years ago in Taman Tasek.

MR and MRS Lee, the gracious owners of Guo Tiau Zi 果条仔 Tasek generously shared these heritage photos of their popular stall with us. Get a glimpse of the passion and commitment behind that humble bowl of delicious kway teow kia from these old pictures.

We've only just began..... in 1984.

Wooden push cart stall on wheels and with only a sheet of flimsy, flapping canvas overhead to shield it from the elements. Notice that small red charcoal stove at the front of the push cart stall?

Taman Tasek kway teow kia Gen 2 in 1995, the stall now "upgraded" with steel panels, moved into a more sturdy structure with a zinc roof overhead. The stall had gleaming steel folding wing panels, like one of those "Transformer" robots.

Dining under a big tree and on a bald patch of raw earth. Look at the number of tables. Even at that time, Taman Tasek kway teow kia already had a big following of fans.
