Catching up with Carol today, we went to Fascination & Kitchen restaurant in Masai, one of her favourites in JB. Carol has been a fan of Fascination & Kitchen since before Covid. The Western cuisine restaurant in a residential part of JB away from the tourist belt pulled through the pandemic and now enjoys near capacity crowds with its quality fare at reasonable prices in a simple yet warm and elegant setting.

When I want a balanced meal, quick, no fuss and doesn't compromise on choice and taste, I often go for chap chai png which is known as economy rice (in Singapore) and chap fan (in KL). When in JB, my favourite place for economy rice is 肆源小炒 near the Masai bus terminal. It doesn't have an English name, I just refer to it as Mr Tay's (the boss) place.

肆源小炒 (no English name) is one of my favourite eating places in JB, one of those default places to eat when I just want a nice meal without having blogging in mind - since I have blogged about 肆源小炒 3 times already because I like the food here so much. After running an errand in Masai, Johor this morning, we swung over to Mr. Tay's little stall 肆源小炒 for brunch. It's just simple staples with rice but the dishes were nicely done as usual. It's another humble but satisfying meal at 肆源小炒.

Thanks to tip off by buddy Henry Lee, we got a taste of Hock Chew noodles in JB at 肥婆福州美食 stall in 龍城餐館. Roughly translated, it is Fat Lady Hock Chew Delicacies at Restoran Long Cheng at Jalan Api-Api 9 in Taman Megah Ria, Masai.

Restoran TKK is one of the small cluster of sea side seafood restaurants at Teluk Jawa in Johor Bahru. TKK has been here for 15 years but it seemed a little under the radar. This was my first visit to TKK and I will be back for more.
