I was in the good hands of buddy KK but was a little sceptical when the staff served us a tub with ku lou yok (sweet and sour pork) buried in a mound of ice 🙄

I mean I had this famous gimmicky dish at least two times before but I still couldn't get what is the point of ku lou yok in ice.

肆源小炒 (no English name) is one of my favourite eating places in JB, one of those default places to eat when I just want a nice meal without having blogging in mind - since I have blogged about 肆源小炒 3 times already because I like the food here so much. But, I can't help it - their poached chicken, roast chicken and roast pork are so good, I just have to tell you about them. So, this will be the fourth time that I am blogging about 肆源小炒.

I am not a fan of "roast" chicken even though chicken rice bosses told me that "roast" sells better than old fashioned poached nowadays. "Roast" though looks very appetising often turned out dry and flat tasting. But, not at the chicken rice stall at Fong Yem coffee shop 丰源美食中心 in Johor Jaya -  it's my favourite "roast" chicken stall now.

Wen Hua is a banquet type Chinese restaurant in busy Taman Molek, JB. Well known for it's signature fruit eating wild patin fish, Wen Hua is popular for banquets and special gatherings. Recently, thanks to buddy Suan, we found out that Wen Hua is also good for simple meals for lunch or dinner. Even two can go and have a modest yet delicious meal at Wen Hua.

I wasn't expecting much from trendy fads and franchise food but the Korean style baked chicken at Thank U Mom just blew my mind. It's one of the best baked chicken that I've tried so far.

Chai Lee Chicken Rice Johor Bahru Anggerik 财利鸡饭

Chai Lee chicken rice at Taman Anggerik is one of the favourites of my JB foodie buddy Jeff. "肉滑，又香 smooth and flavourful meat" Jeff says. Since I like tasty, velvety Hainanese style chicken, I quickly went and check out 财利鸡饭 :-D

我们喜欢吃在 Jalan Anggerik 2/7 财利鸡饭的海南鸡饭。鸡肉香甜，嫩，滑又有微微的鲜鸡味。油饭不会过于油腻，可口，口感好。辣椒和姜是新鲜自做的，很够椒香味。鸡汤美味有微微的當歸香。好吃，价格合理。 值得一试。

3 Best Hainanese Chicken Rice in Johor Bahru after Eating at 30+ Stalls

These 3 are my favourite Hainanese chicken rice in JB now. They are very close in overall quality, so I shall not rank them but these are the 3 in my top band. (Of course, taste is a very subjective and personal thing, so everyone will have different favourites.)
