Eating Sarawak style kolo mee around Johor Bahru, though each stall have their own blend of sauce and toppings, I noticed that they all have nice springy noodles that tasted and felt the same. Curious, I asked the stall holders and they told me that their supplier is in Skudai. Today, I went to the source of all kolo mee in JB (and some say Singapore) at Restoran Orang Kampung 😃

This morning, I joined buddy John at one of his favourite haunts in Taman Johor Jaya for Hock Chiew noodles at Ah Chong stall. John hails from Setiawan (Perak state) where most Chinese there are Hock Chiew - Ah Chong stall is where John gets his Foochow or Fuzhou comfort food.

Most of my foodie kakis swear by Fatty Ox Hong Kong Kitchen 过桥面档. I've eaten a few times at Fatty Ox and I like Cheung sifu's dishes too.

I lost count of the number of times I came to visit Ah Kow Mushroom Minced Pork Mee in Hong Lim Food Centre and left disappointed that the shutters were down. I tried my luck again today and was so thrilled to catch this sight - Ah Kow is opened and there was a long line of people waiting to taste his famous bak chor mee.

There are about 50 food stalls here, and we opted for Ivy's Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup as we all love the opportunity to have Chinese style mutton soup which is getting really scarce in Singapore - we can count them all with the fingers on one hand 😱

Taman Jurong 58 Minced Pork Noodles Singapore ⭐⭐⭐
Popped over to Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre this sunny morning on my way for an appointment in Singapore's west. There are about 100 food stalls in this old 3-storey market cum hawker centre with 58 Minced Meat Noodles 五十八肉脞面 (bak chor mee) probably the most famous.

Monday Pasar Malam Night Market Food @ KSL Mall · Taman Century Johor Bahru ⭐⭐⭐
The Monday evening pasar malam at Taman Century is busy with locals and Singapore tourists because there are about 100 stalls of all kinds, and it is conveniently located near hotels and eateries. The KSL pasar malam began in the 1970s and is still as popular as ever today. All the stalls are simply lined up in a straight line along Jalan Seladang, starting at KSL City Mall.

Lao Wu rojak 老吴啰吔 is one of the best loved and most famous rojak stalls in Johor Bahru. This little mobile stall is located at Jalan Seroja 24 in Taman Johor Jaya from day 1 when old Mr Goh 老吴 arrived in JB nearly 30 years ago.

This was my first time visiting the pasar malam in Tangkak which opens only on Saturday night. I was a guest of Orient Driveaway 2016 and Pasar Malam Tangkak was the last stop before the convoy of 11 cars return to Singapore via Gelang Patah.

Kampung Ungku Mohsin is one of the popular stalls in Johor Bahru serving an old style of wanton mee with tofu and fishballs in addition to the usual wantons and char siew. This is a style I've not seen in Singapore and I've come to love it too.
