Now & Then Cafe by NYBC in Koahsiung & Pier-2 Art Centre Taiwan

I've a habit now of checking out local hipster cafes when I occasionally travel ;-D So when we came to Koahsiung City's famous Pier-2 Art Centre 駁二藝術特區, we kept our cafe hopping agenda in mind.

Pier-2 Art Centre is today a fun, happy space. The area was a collection of grimy sugar warehouses in it's past life.

Pier-2 Art Centre is dotted with quaint, fascinating street art which I can't help but stop to gawk and wonder. I could spend hours and days here. Wondering. Wandering.

Oh that grayish tall building in the background is the iconic 85 Sky Tower, the tallest building in Kaohsiung city. If it looked strange to you, it's inspired by the Chinese character 高 from the Chinese name of Kaohsiung City 高雄市. You can see the landmark tower from many places in Kaohsiung.

We get to meet colourful, interesting locals here. There are many (not just a few).

Awesome murals that stopped me in my tracks.

Most of the former warehouses at Pier-2 Art Centre are repurposed into contemporary art studios and galleries.

Now & Then Cafe is inside this drab looking, refurbished vintage warehouse.

Pushing past the heavy glass and iron door, we were greeted by the coffee bar and coffee aroma. We got that "hipster mood and vibes" the moment we stepped in the industrial looking space with loft seating.

Now & Then Cafe is very busy and full of life 😄

Single origin coffee available here includes Brazilian, Costa Rican, Panamanian, Ethiopian and Burundian - that's a wide selection 😄

Mango mocktail.

My hot cappuccino. Nice aroma, robust flavour and good round body.

Hot chocolate mocha.

I think this French toast is called Banana Paradise. The young ladies in our party love it. It sure looked pretty and I was also won over 😄  It's just layers of sweetness and is easy to like for people with a sweet tooth (like me lah.....).

A visit to Pier-2 Art Centre is a Must when you are in Kaohsiung and when you are here, try chilling out at Now & Then by NYBC.

    1. Thank you George. Yes, Koahsiung is definitely one of the place I love to return to. The people are friendly, food is unique and delicious and there are also many interesting places to see. It is also very easy to get to from Singapore and KL.
